Hi girls!
So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. What wasn’t so lovely about it? The price, it is about $6900 in most stores. I gave up on it but whenever I went to try dresses I kept looking for something that looked like that and, not surprisingly, they just didn’t compare. A few months passed and today I found a great deal which is still pretty out if my budget ($3000) but was priced about 35% less than the original price. It is from a trustworthy boutique and they assured me it has all the tags, it even it’s my size! Anyways, the point is that I am not sure if I could justify spending so much on a dress I am only wearing for a few hours. Any advice? How much did you spend on yours?

I have spend $250 plus $175 in alterations. I got a deal on a name brand dress gently used. It has the look i been wanting with a nice heavy corded lace. The alterations are only for the corset to replace the zipper.

If you can afford it and don't mind that you'll probably only wear it once, go for it, but don't go broke trying to get it. There are still lots of beautiful dresses out there that won't break the bank. I fell in love with a Romona Keveza dress. I know I could never afford it but I'm going to look for something similar; preferably $500 or under. That will be tough and I'm even considering finding a pattern similar to it and trying my hand at making my own dress with my mom's help.

My budget was $2000 because I want a ball gown and knew I was going to need a little bit bigger budget. I used the money from my second job to pay for it. I found a dress and a wedding dress consignment shop for $1500 with tax. I’m hopefully not going to need a lot of alterations because it fits me super well. The shop even said if I keep it great condition they will buy it back. I think if you want to spend the $3000 and that dress will make you feel amazing then go for it! You can always make compromises in other areas of your budget. I know it’s for one day, but you’re allowed to spend money on yourself at least once in your life. If you feel comfortable then go for it.

    $800 dress
    $150 alterations
I couldn't fathom spending a fortune and my requirements were:
Price under 1k, comfortable so I only needed one dress for reception and ceremony, effortless and classy, detail and texture, unique silhouette, v neck with low dramatic back sheath fit.
I loved it so much I tried it on every few days I could up to our wedding. All our guests are still saying it was a dress the had never seen before and completely felt made for me. I danced for four and a half hours straight at our daytime boozy brunch wedding dance party.

Etsy! Now, before I give you the name, I have to tell you this store has had a lot of mixed reviews. Their Etsy rating is great, but elsewhere, it seems dicey. My dress, however, is perfect. I bought the RenzRags Ls210.
I've heard great reviews of other Etsy shops like VickyMermaidBridal, which aren't mixed at all. So I'd just say be careful and google any shop-- I didn't google RenzRags until after my dress was shipped and I spent a few days FREAKING. OUT.
It all worked out though Smiley smile

Just keep in mind that if you need alterations that’s an added cost, plus shoes, veil, accessories etc. Honestly, if you can fit it in your budget then go ahead but you can definitely find beautiful dresses for less than that price just keep an open mind, nowadays they have so many beautiful dresses to choose from. For mine even though it fit on our budget I felt guilty for how much mine was (1400) but honestly I’m so in love with my dress that I am happy with my decisions. For some that it’s not much or for some it’s to much money for a dress but if you can fit it in your budget then why not. You still have time just keep in mind some dresses take a year to arrive plus alterations etc but I think you still have time. You are going to look beautiful regardless!

My dress was $300 after alterations it was close to $500 didn't want anything too expensive because I was only wearing it for a few hours. I would say to keep looking for a similar dress or try something else if it is that much out of your budget if it isnt too much just adjust and pull from somewhere else to make up for it. Good luck Smiley smile

I went for a bit of a more unconventional route and am purchasing my dress through a designer on Etsy. With the cost of shipping my total will come out to roughly $1300 USD. That includes the dress, custom design changes, and alterations (sewn to measurements I have provided). I'm nothing but excited to recieve the finished product in October and it's honestly been one of the most stress-free parts of planning. I got a great deal, price-wise, and I've had a lot of control in what it will look like and what materials are being used.

If you are paying for your dress yourself, this might be something to discuss with your fiance as well. A lot of newly married couples encounter a lot of stress early on in married life because they spent too much on their wedding. Remember, couples that spend a lot on their wedding are statistically more likely to get divorced later! Be smart about what you can really afford.

I only spent $200 on my dress! It was the first one I tried on and fell in love immediately. Didn’t bother to try on any other dresses after.

My dress was about 3k, and i have no problem with that, ive heard people wear it once then when they had kids use that fabric for christening outfits for their kids. Me im going to wear it for mascarade parties, and wear it wherever i feel thats dressy enough minus someones wedding. I will be a wedded bride forever, and so will all of you once you wear your dresses, so enjoy this moment in your life. But if you cant budget that much money for your dress then dont do it.

The initial dress I found and fell in love with was $2,000. But luckily budget limitations and my inability to to get an international flight for a dress stopped that! I found a online seller on etsy who made a similar style for a fraction of the cost. The final dress was somewhere between $350-475. My mom decided to buy the dress, so I'm not exactly sure where it fell on the spectrum for their custom designs (we had the neckline altered some).

I found mine in a bridal boutique in San Antonio Texas and it is from Enzoani. I am completely in love with all of his dresses. The price was $3800 with no alterations or accessories included which i thought was way out of my budget but my soon to be hubby said to go for it. Now i’m anxious waiting for September to try it for the first time in my size. Good luck finding yours!

I felt the same way.... Why spent so much on a dress you will wear one for about 4 hs max(I have. Dess change during the reception). So I set my budget at $700 but when I went to try on dresses for the first time man we fell in love with a $1500 dress. I go back next month with all 7 of m braidsmaids, my mother and grandmother to see other dresses and let her see that one but I'm kinda in love with that one so I'm 90% sure I'm going to say yes to that dress. My point is if that's the one for you then go for it. Especially if nothing else made you feel that same way.
