Hi girls! So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. Hi girls!
So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. What wasn’t so lovely about it? The price, it is about $6900 in most stores. I gave up on it but whenever I went to try dresses I kept looking for something that looked like that and, not surprisingly, they just didn’t compare. A few months passed and today I found a great deal which is still pretty out if my budget ($3000) but was priced about 35% less than the original price. It is from a trustworthy boutique and they assured me it has all the tags, it even it’s my size! Anyways, the point is that I am not sure if I could justify spending so much on a dress I am only wearing for a few hours. Any advice? How much did you spend on yours?

I also did not want to spend a lot on a dress. I shopped around and wedding wire stalked people who posted on threads for names of designers and such. I went to my 3rd boutique for dress shopping and I walked in and pointed at a dress and that is the dress I bought. $3000. I am a tomboy and the fact I'm spending that on a dress is hard on me but then I think about how I felt in it and how FH is going to be shocked when he sees me in it. To me in the long run it is worth it if you can afford it.

I say that is totally up to you. I spend 3k on my dress and between veil and alteration I was pretty close to 4. Some people wouldn’t dare to spend that much while others spend 10k just on the dress. I wouldn’t change my dress for anything and I got my money’s worth. In my opinion.

You can also opt to purchase a second hand dress. There’s boutique that specializes in that but also lots of online sites that you can buy a dress directly from a bride. You’ll be surprise how many designer dresses you’ll find there including Berta.

I gave a budget of $2000 with $3000 as my absolute maximum. I went to a shop that was wonderful and worked on keeping me under my budget! I found my dress for $1500 without alterations and accessories.

The dress I loved was only $300! I tried on much more expensive dresses, but this was definitely the one! Now I can splurge on shoes and jewelry!

My budget was $1,000 and after visiting a lot of bridal shops I gave up. Instead I started going to boutiques and that’s where I found my perfect $400 dress! I didn’t want the traditional dress so it worked for me.

I got my dress a while back on sale for $99 and got shoes and a couple veils and a bag for less than $250 all on sale and spread out over a year. My alterations now that will cost as my dress is now a good 4 sizes too big LOL. I may end up spending more on a new dress but we will see. Getting married 2-20-2020 after a few years engagement and a lot of moving around lol. Can’t wait!

It’s definitely a personal choice, but for me I didn’t want to go over 1,000 so I didn’t even try on dresses out of my budget and I found mine for just under that! And then I did go over a bit to get my veil included in there.

My budget is small and I have a chronic pain disorder which means I need a light comfortable dress for all day I spent $200 at ModCloth and got two wedding dresses. I just wanted something nice since mine will be in KC outside in the heat. It really just depends on budget and what the bride likes.

$800. I simply can’t understand spending a ton on a dress that you’re going to wear once. It’s not where you shop, it’s how you shop!!!

I spent $1500 on mine (which was slightly out of my budget...) but have you ever thought of getting a preowned one? There are a few sites that are very reputable that have a variety of preowned wedding dresses for AMAZING prices. Maybe you can find that Berta dress

I spent $1600 on my dress before alterations. I had been aiming for the low $1000's so it was a little over my budget but I absolutely love my dress! Even went back to try it on a total of 3 times just to be sure! So when you know, you know!

It is a personal choice. I wouldn't go into debt over it but if it's within your budget and you love it, why not? I personally spent 1600 on mine because my budget is 2k and I was trying to think of alterations ahead of time. At my dress appt I didn't look at anything or try anything on that was above my budget to avoid feeling upset at all I couldn't have what I wanted. I love my dress though! Although it's only one day, it's THE day. You want to feel magical and beautiful. In my opinion, it's worth the extra money if the dress makes you feel that way.

Initially I didn’t want to spend more than 1k on a dress. But after dress shopping, I found what I liked and what I liked was $1700 before taxes and alterations. Im still shopping around but definitely nothing comes close. Good to know a lot of people here also tend to go above their initial budgets as well lol

Everybody has different budgets— originally I wanted to see if I could get away with a $100 dress. Then upped to $300. Then 1k was my final budget, including alterations ($150).

Check out dressanomalie.com they might able to help you make your dress for a lower cost. My friend used them for her wedding and rave reviews
