Hi girls! So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. Hi girls!
So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. What wasn’t so lovely about it? The price, it is about $6900 in most stores. I gave up on it but whenever I went to try dresses I kept looking for something that looked like that and, not surprisingly, they just didn’t compare. A few months passed and today I found a great deal which is still pretty out if my budget ($3000) but was priced about 35% less than the original price. It is from a trustworthy boutique and they assured me it has all the tags, it even it’s my size! Anyways, the point is that I am not sure if I could justify spending so much on a dress I am only wearing for a few hours. Any advice? How much did you spend on yours?

My budget was 2k. My dress was around 1700 with tax so I plan on being right around budget with alterations. Luckily I bought my dress at my first consultation, so I get a free veil up at 200 dollar value. If you are going to stress financially find something else. If you can swing it, I say go for it if you love it. You want to feel beautiful and happy. Can’t put a price tag on that! Lol

Budget was $3,000. I found one for $1,500 that I love from BHLDN. Better yet, no alterations needed! It's absolutely perfect on me! Just need to make sure I don't gain any weight 🙂

I think you already have your answer. You Just said you can’t justify the purchase and it’s still out of your budget. My advice would be... dont put yourself in the hole for an article of clothing or ANYthing wedding related. Have the wedding that you can afford and you won’t have regret the day after when it’s all over.

I only spent $1050. I didn’t want to spend that amount. But it also wasn’t breaking the budget. I also didn’t do any in-person dress shopping or trying on. I knew that I wanted this exact dress when I saw it in a pic. But there were only 2 found in other states (since the designer stopped making Wedding Gowns in 2015). Unfortunately I stupidly missed out on buying from the first salon for only $300. But since I wanted it, I searched like crazy and happened to find a second bridal salon who was selling it new, with tags and in my size. I purchased via phone and it was shipped to me without even trying it on.

I spent $2750 and that’s with $450 in alterations. I say if you love it do it! My budget was $1500 if possible, but I was willing to spend $3000 if it was THE ONE. So the one came in under $3000.

I wanted a dress for $500 and alterations around $300. My dress ended up being $915 before alterations. If it is something you really want, crunch the numbers, see where you can minimize so it can fit your budget, talk to your FS and see if you can expand the budget a bit. (You could also always sell it afterwards to make some of the money back)

Wedding budget is 18k but my dress budget is 500. I honestly couldn't bare the thought of buying a dress for thousands of dollars that I will use for one day. The dress I bought is under budget and I could return it if there are issues. Ordering a few sizes up to guarantee it fits and will take it to get altered hopefully that doesn't cost to much.

My budget was to stay under $1550. So I went in with the mindset of PLEASE do not show me any dresses over that. 🤣.
I found a Morilee dress for $1200 that I love. The alterations are going to be approximately $300 with the bustling. So I believe it should be close to the $**** price range. 😊

Great advice! I totally agree that if you can find areas in your budget that are not as important to your day, that you are willing to spend less on, and you have the budget to spend a little bit more on a higher (set price) on the dress that makes you feel fabulous—then go for it! If in the budget, no regrets!

I didnt have a budget really. I fell in love with a dress that was over 2k and still needed lots of alterations. I took plenty of pictures of the dress and know a lady where I go to school who makes custom dresses. I showed her the pictures and told her what I wanted. I now have a custom made dress that I'm in love with and it only cost me $750.00

I personally didn’t want to spend a lot on a dress I was probably only going to wear once so I found a gorgeous beaded ivory evening gown that I am wearing for $850 off the rack. My alterations cost $250 (don’t forget about that!)

I initially had a budget of about $600, and then my mom swooped in and offered to buy mine for me within a budget max of $1000. I ended up falling absolutely in love with an Enzoani dress in a black Friday sale, and luckily it was only about $200 over my mom's budget, and I was happy to cover the difference. It's pre worn, but the former alterations left all the extra fabric when it was taken in (slightly too small around my thighs right now- hello squats), and the other alterations I have in mind are very minimal so should only be around $100. So altogether with alterations, it'll be about $1300. Two of my best girlfriends spent around $1500

I had a boutique in my hometown where all dress (name brand dresses at that) were $699 and below. I got my wedding dress, veil, and a cocktail dress (free) for $815. Still need some minor alterations but it won’t cost much because of how minor it is

My dress was $597. Veil I'm borrowing from my sister-in-law. Haven't gone in for alterations yet though. I'll go in January or February for that.

Everyone has a different budget. I tried to keep my overall budget down, but knew that if I found "my" dress that I was probably going to get it. I told my consultant I really didn't want to go over $1,200. I found the most perfect dress and luckily it was only $200 over budget. After alterations and getting my veil, I spent around $1,800
