Hi girls! So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. Hi girls!
So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. What wasn’t so lovely about it? The price, it is about $6900 in most stores. I gave up on it but whenever I went to try dresses I kept looking for something that looked like that and, not surprisingly, they just didn’t compare. A few months passed and today I found a great deal which is still pretty out if my budget ($3000) but was priced about 35% less than the original price. It is from a trustworthy boutique and they assured me it has all the tags, it even it’s my size! Anyways, the point is that I am not sure if I could justify spending so much on a dress I am only wearing for a few hours. Any advice? How much did you spend on yours?

It depends on the bride, but I only spent $250 on a DB dress that was originally $800. Didn’t want to spend more than $300 because I know that I’ll have to spend money on alterations, accessories etc

Just remember, alterations are usually necessary and are not cheap either. Mine were $1,000 but most are around $500ish. Maybe that’ll help!

Dress with tax is just under $2,000. I was in shock I budgeted $3,000 originally so it was a cost savings of $1,000 at Bridal Reflections in Carl Place, NY on Long Island. Maggie Sottero strapless mermaid gown with lace and crystals.

I spent just over $500 on mine, I adamantly refused to go over $550 with tax, and fortunately the dress I fell madly in love with ended up being around $540 with tax. I have a mega-tight budget for the wedding, but it's going to be beautiful and amazing. I'm just nervous about how much they're going to smack me with alterations.

I bought my dress at David’s Bridal and it ended up being just over $400....though I haven’t had any alterations yet or bought the necessary undergarments (so it will probably be closer to $600 once everything is said and done)

I’ve had the thought that the wedding is only for 5 hours on one day....i’d Rather not break the bank on the dress and spend money on other things.

BUT, that being said...everybody looks at their wedding day differently. If this is what you’ve wanted forever, get the dress and maybe scale back in another area.

It’s your day, so it’s whatever you prefer...have fun!

My dress is a Berta! My aunt got me a great discount and I only spent $1k on it, originally over $8k. Do what makes you feel the most special, but if you splurge, don’t feel guilty about it! I am obsessed with my dress and I get to wear it in exactly 1 month ❤️❤️

I spent in total 1500 on my dress. If this is the dress you need to have then spend the money. One thing to think of is if you would like that money spent elsewhere!

I spent around $1000 for my dress without alterations. I anticipate spending about 300 extra dollars for that. I've never paid that much for a dress but this is THE DRESS. I'm going to marry the love of my life in it and it will make me feel like a princess. I want to give it to a daughter someday. I believed what I spent on something I loved so much was worth it.

I spent $3000 and then 700 on alterations. You can always haggle a little, I got panels added to mine for pretty much free because I told them it was just out of my budget. they would rather make the sale than you walk away

I am so incredibly cheap! I am trying to find mine for under $300, because I am almost 100% sure I will have to add alteration costs too! Also I love a good bargain buy, I love the challenge!

My dress was originally $1,099. With accessories, alterations, and taxes, I expect it would have cost over $1,300. I paid about $750 for everything.

You can’t help that you are in love with it. If you’re anything like me you won’t be able to get it out of your head and will compare everything to it. It is a serious issue with me when I want something I just have to have. You just have to one figure out if you can find it in your budget to purchase it and two if you cow justify spending that amount of something you wear for one day. Also keep in mind alterations can get costly! My dress was 1095$ I didn’t give myself a budget but don’t think I could ever spend more than 1500$ on a dress. Unfortunately I spent over $500 on alterations for it so definitely went over my $1500 limit.
