Hi girls! So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. Hi girls!
So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. What wasn’t so lovely about it? The price, it is about $6900 in most stores. I gave up on it but whenever I went to try dresses I kept looking for something that looked like that and, not surprisingly, they just didn’t compare. A few months passed and today I found a great deal which is still pretty out if my budget ($3000) but was priced about 35% less than the original price. It is from a trustworthy boutique and they assured me it has all the tags, it even it’s my size! Anyways, the point is that I am not sure if I could justify spending so much on a dress I am only wearing for a few hours. Any advice? How much did you spend on yours?

Mine was $1450. See if they have any wiggle room! The store I went to gave me a discount because my fiance is a veteran. Then they ended up throwing my veil in for free because the dress was still above budget and they wanted to get the sale. The veil was priced at $120.

Honestly, I didn't want to spend over $1000 on my dress. I ended up messing with my budget and finding a little extra money from some of the other categories.

I would recommend looking at your budget and deciding for YOU if you can afford it. No one knows your financial situation or your budget for the wedding. Could you give up fancy centerpieces for your dress? Or save some money on your invitations by making your own?

I spent $99 on mine from Davids Bridal. Wasn't a budget issue, I just really liked the dress. I am not a dress fan at all so I didn't want a bunch of froo froo or lace and also didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a dress I would wear for 3 hours and never again nor have any kids or anyone else to be passing it down to.

I only paid $500 for mine. I didn't think I should pay to much for a dress, if I was only gonna wear it one time!

My budget was originally $3K for a ceremony dress, reception dress, veil and alterations. At my first day of trying on dresses, I ended up falling in love with a dress that was there for a trunk show and decided to just do one dress for both ceremony and reception. I also fell in love with the veil (I’m a sucker). With my alterations and taxes, the dress and veil will be just shy of $6k.

According to WW, my dress is about $1800. When I was researching dresses, I had an idea of what I wanted and used the filters to look around. You can filter by price as well as style. I found a bridal boutique that catered specifically to my body type and found out that they were having an Essense of Australia trunk show on the date that I booked my appointment. I looked up the designer and fell in love right away!

My mother borrowed her wedding dress and veil. I was considering borrowing my sister's veil, but she thought it looked too short on me with the dress. I couldn't borrow her dress, even if I wanted to, because it's to small for me. I had to get everything new.

If your dress shop is having a trunk show, a couple of things are likely to happen: the designer sends more dresses to the shop than usual and they are all discounted.

*I am not familiar of either of these sights. I just did a bit of googling.

This is my second wedding and we are doing a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic so I didn't want to spend a lot on a dress. I didn't give myself a budget but in my head I don't want to spend a lot. I actually found a few nice white dresses on Kleinfelds site but they are listed under the bridesmaids section not wedding dresses. I was considering ordering one from them and seeing how it goes. The one I picked is only $169 and its beautiful. Happy planning everyone

I never set an actual budget for my wedding dress because I literally did not know what to expect (outside of pricing from DavidsBridal.com). I told my, however, that i did not WANT to spend more than $1100. Lol Boy was i far off. I ended going with a Zarvana Bridal dress which was $2300. I did a few days of dress shopping to gauge what the actual going rate of dresses were. Once i was educated enough on pricing, I told myself $2000 can fully cover the type of dress I wanted.

I can honestly say I love my dress and I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for it. When all was said and done I think mine came out to a total of $550. It was everything I wanted. I don't think the price matters honestly...as long as you love it that's all that matters.

Get something you love! I spent a little over $8K before alterations. I know you only wear it for one day, but your pictures, video, and memories are forever! Plus, someone thought of a cute idea to put on your wedding dress every year on your anniversary for a romantic date night at home to reminisce. So you could wear your wedding dress as often as you want!

This will be my second wedding and with my first wedding, I wasn't paying for the majority of it so I spent a little more on my dress. I believe it was around $1200 befoe alterations and not including any accessories.

This time around, my fiance and I are paying for the majority of the wedding ourselves so I gave myself a budget of $1000 for my dress. I ended up buying my dress, undergarments, and headband for about $650.

I say it all differs on the bride and what you can afford. It may only be for a few hours of 1 day but you should still get what makes you happy provided you can make it happen. 😊

I will add, I thought I was DEAD SET on a particular dress, then as time went on, some of my perspectives changed and I found a different and much cheaper dress that I loved even more

I would say every bride's budget is different and should be based on what you are comfortable spending. My maximum budget was $2,000 and I am happy to say I found the most beautiful dress of my dreams for an even $1,500. And I said yes to the dress at Kleinfelds in NYC!! My best friend and I are getting married 2 months apart and I originally planned a trip to Kleinfleds for her prior to my engagement. Once I was engaged I knew I had to make an appointment also! We were shocked by the amount of dresses that were pulled for us in our price range. All of them were beautiful which made it a little bit of a tough decision! I think because of the TV show the store gets a reputation for having very expensive dresses but were happy and surprised to see dresses in all price ranges! We had THE BEST experience at Kleinfelds and I am so happy to have found my dream dress there that was also well within my budget! I highly recommend checking out their website. The appointment is free and it costed us nothing to have our dresses shipped to Florida to then be altered. All of the consultants were excellent at their job and made the 'say yes to the dress' moment very special!!

I also fell in love with Berta dresses at the beginning of my dress search. I ended up getting a Calla Blanche dress for $2,000 and paid $600 for alterations. I would suggest looking at their dresses. They do have a Berta like feel. Good luck!

This is totally a personally choice! If you have the money in your budget and want to spend it then go for it if you know that dress is the dress for you. There definitely will be a dress for you in your price point as this is a very common price for dresses (****). I remember when I went to find mine I kept the budget to myself because I didn’t need anyone telling me it was silly to spend so much for something I’m going to wear for a few hours. I did end up with one cheaper than my budget but honestly still not cheap obviously and I’m glad that I found it. It’s not just something you’re going to wear once. I feel like it’s a part of the whole thing, how it makes you feel on the day of, you’ll look back on your photos forever and be glad you did. I would say if you on the fence about it then try to find something in your budget because you pull the trigger on the other one because you do have to factor in alterations and all that stuff
