Hi girls!
So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. What wasn’t so lovely about it? The price, it is about $6900 in most stores. I gave up on it but whenever I went to try dresses I kept looking for something that looked like that and, not surprisingly, they just didn’t compare. A few months passed and today I found a great deal which is still pretty out if my budget ($3000) but was priced about 35% less than the original price. It is from a trustworthy boutique and they assured me it has all the tags, it even it’s my size! Anyways, the point is that I am not sure if I could justify spending so much on a dress I am only wearing for a few hours. Any advice? How much did you spend on yours?

My original budget was $500, but the dress I wanted was $1500, my FMIL and mom wanted me to have it so they chipped in and I only ended up spending $350 before alterations. If they hadn't chipped in, I wouldn't have purchased it. But it's a personal choice, so if you love it and it fits your budget then I say go for it

Everyone has a different budget, so it’s a personal decision. However, (as you stated) if you feel like you can’t justify the purchase, then you probably have your answer right there. It’s a dress (sure it’s a bridal gown and it’s “special” Lol.... but in reality, it’s just an overpriced dress). You’ll wear for maybe 6 hours and then it’s done. So if your budget and comfort is for a $3k dress... Go for it!!!

I’m a second time bride and when I look back 15 years ago to my first wedding, I know that I’ll never spend $1800 again on a wedding dress (that I ended up donating after 2 years of it sitting in my closet). I can spend more on my dress but I won’t. So I’m shooting to stay under $500. Actually, yesterday I found a designer dress I really like online for $300 (originally $3500). It’s being sold from a bridal shop in Texas, it’s new with tags and the seller sent me a video of it.

Of course, you can try and sell it to recoup some of the money. But no guarantee how much.

I put a budget of $1,500 and I think that was generous. I personally would never pay more than that; but would definitely spend less. I found one in my budget and love it.

Everyone will have different price ranges for their dresses. Sometimes it would be some brides wedding splurge and then they sacrifice elsewhere. I get where you're coming from though. With me, I'm spending $1250 for a custom dress. The original dress I found online, I couldn't find the designer or a valid website/store to purchase from. I called into a custom shop and they quote me $1250 to remake the dress (with a few minor changes). Even for $1250, I was like OMG in both good and bad ways but I'm sticking to my guns on this dress Smiley xd

My dress was 4,000 and my budget was 5,000. I haven’t had alterations yet but it’s a custom dress so I’m hoping minimal alterations will be needed. I’m not doing a veil and doing jewelry from my grandmother. My last expenses for day of attire will be shoes.

Theres one dress store by me and they sell strapless exclusively. I'm getting married in park city in February. I have found 2 dresses online that I like... one costs as much as my wedding and the other is an Etsy dress I'd have to have made. I'm torn....

When I went to the boutiques I was very clear that I didn’t want to see a single thing over my budget. I knew I would have been tempted! My dress was $4k and I negotiated and got it for $3500 and paid another $500 for these badass straps to be added. I expect alterations to be $500-700. I’m going with a cheaper veil on Etsy, Betsy Johnson shoes.. so I’m saving on accessories! Try not to go over your budget but if it’s THE DRESS... I mean.. you’re getting such a deal! And it’s in your size! I think it’s the universe telling you it’s yours 🧘‍♀️

I keep telling myself I only want to spend a few hundreds on my dress ( definitely less than 1,000) I have always been a bargain buyer and can't imagine spending alot on a dress I will wear for a few hours even though I hope this will be a day to remember and I want a dress that will look beautiful in pictures. I am almost a 100% I'll have to get my dress altered (I'm like 5'2 and 140- hoping to lose some of my extra weight) so I am definitely taking into consideration for fees to get my dress altered.

My budget for my dress was $2000 or less, but while shopping with my FMIL, my mother, and FSILs I found my dress at a small dress boutique for $600!!! I absolutely fell in love with it (I'll attach a picture). But you must love the dress and be comfortable with the budget you set. Also factor in alterations, accessories, etc. But good luck shopping!!!

I paid a little under $500 for my wedding dress. I couldn’t imaging spending $2000 on a dress I will only wear one time in my life! Since I saved so much on my dress I will most likely get a second dress for a dress change for the reception. I brought my perfect and lovely dress on CocoMelody.com

My budget was $3000 before alterations. Off the rack the dress was $3100. I added buttons in production so another $250. I don’t get the dress until November but I am going to bustle the back. I still haven’t bought accessories, but I will try to keep it under $200.

I spent $1250 on my dress and $280 on alterations. I was originally looking at a few white dresses on Lulus for closer to $150, but when i tried in my dress I fell in love. I called FH (didn’t show him the dress), and he said I should get it. We had the money for it. I do love my dress, but there’s a part of me that thinks it’s stupid I paid $1500 for something I’ll never wear again

I spent about $3000 before any alterations yet. My budget was around $1500 but I would go up to $3000 if that’s the dress i wanted. Go with what you love! You won’t regret it!

I spent $130 on my dress and luckily it doesn't need any alterations. If there are some that need to be done, my Aunt said she will help. I'm not a fan of dresses, so I was glad to find one at an affordable price that looked good.
