Hi girls!
So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. What wasn’t so lovely about it? The price, it is about $6900 in most stores. I gave up on it but whenever I went to try dresses I kept looking for something that looked like that and, not surprisingly, they just didn’t compare. A few months passed and today I found a great deal which is still pretty out if my budget ($3000) but was priced about 35% less than the original price. It is from a trustworthy boutique and they assured me it has all the tags, it even it’s my size! Anyways, the point is that I am not sure if I could justify spending so much on a dress I am only wearing for a few hours. Any advice? How much did you spend on yours?

My budget is about $1200-$1500. I’m like you and I can’t justify spending so much on a dress worn once for a few hours. That being said this is your big day and only happens once. If your heart is set on that and you can manage the price I say go for it! You’ll feel amazing and it’ll be special to you. Best of luck!

I feel like it’s all personal preference. If you’ve got it (financially) and like it, go for it.

I found a beautiful dress with a matching veil and belt all for about 1700/1800! My mother is paying for my dress. But the dress by itself I believe 1200!

So I went to David's bridal with an idea of what I wanted to try on. I really was not thinking about a budget at the time but I tried on dress after dress after dress and same to find something wrong with every single one of them. During my 3rd appointment I tried on a dress and I liked it but of course still found things wrong with it I put on a second dress and did not want to take it off I stood up and ugly cried in front of everyone. I did not have my friends or family I was in the area said made an appointment for myself because every other time I had not found anything I liked. So of course this time I found my dress. My dress was $99 and I cant wait to say I do in it! It is nothing like the dress I pictured in my head that I would wear for my wedding and even some of my family members who went with me have said that it is not what they were expecting either but it is beyond beautiful and I love it.

I bought my dress, veil and shoes online from BHLDN.com for $380. My dress, the Jones dress, is simple, modern and beautiful with a small train. My veil, is the Verbenia floor length veil studded with sparkling crystals and my shoes, the BHLDN vanity heel were only $80! I think it just depends on your budget and also that feeling you get/got when you try the dress on. Even though I bought my dress online, I had the moment via online and in person when I tried it on.

I’ve been communicating with the company Anomalie and they custom make your dress down to every detail that you want... So far, my designer has been so amazing. Addressing my concerns and fine tuning details. My dress ( with veil included as part of their 5000 brides promotion! ) will cost me $1,100 and I’ve requested a lot of details replicated from Hayley Paige wedding gowns.

My budget was 1200. And I found my dress for 1200 .. but its going to cost about 2000 after alterations accessories. The only way I was able to justify going that far over budget, is the dress converts to a reception dress.

My dress was $2,000.00 prior to any alterations. I wasn't planning on spending that... but my opinion is, you are the focal point of the wedding... (well you and you're groom but honestly, the bride gets most of the attention). I was personally willing to look at what other expenses could be cut if I found "the dress" and it was out of budget. I lucked out and my dress was within budget (the alterations weren't but it was doable). If you find "the dress", and you can financially swing it, then go for it... within reason. If it puts you to far out of budget then keep looking. Keep in mind, you're wearing it ONCE... and could the money be better spent elsewhere? When I find things out of budget, I think about my Honeymoon and how the extra expense could possibly take something away from our trip.

Good luck finding your perfect dress!

I took a risk with 2 of my 3 dresses. I searched really and watched "Say Yes To The Dress" on TV. I knew the average cost of dresses waa outside my budget. I was able to locate 3 amazing runway beautiful dress for our wedding under $600.

I paid $1,700 for dress and I know alterations will be about $500.
I'm 50 so I've been married 2x before and done 2 weddings for my kids. My advice to young couples, you wear the dress once save the money for a house. Go to place like David's Bridal. Their most expensive is under $2,000 and they are nice.

I got my dress on sale and spent $730 after taxes, I just booked my alterations was $428. I still have to purchase a veil and can’t find any I really like less than $300. I didn’t want to spend over $1200. Would you regret going over your budget or not getting the dress of your dreams? How much over your budget is the dress?

I spent $3000 (which was my total for my entire attire for the day). I figured I would spend about $2000. I rationalized this way. It is my 3rd wedding, I'm 41. I make pretty good money at this stage in my life and I can afford it. I can always make more money, right? LOL. And after 5 boutiques and about 25 dresses later, this one just looked amazing on me.

I didn't want to go above $1,000 but ended up spending closer to $2,000. But it was worth it because I love my dress so much!

    Hi Danielle!
I have actually looked into them for maybe just creating my dress rather than hoping to run into something else that I like as much but given that you can’t try it on before, that stresses me out too much and I don’t know that I’ll be able to handle it haha. But I did make an appointment to talk to them so we’ll see how that goes!
