Hi girls!
So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. What wasn’t so lovely about it? The price, it is about $6900 in most stores. I gave up on it but whenever I went to try dresses I kept looking for something that looked like that and, not surprisingly, they just didn’t compare. A few months passed and today I found a great deal which is still pretty out if my budget ($3000) but was priced about 35% less than the original price. It is from a trustworthy boutique and they assured me it has all the tags, it even it’s my size! Anyways, the point is that I am not sure if I could justify spending so much on a dress I am only wearing for a few hours. Any advice? How much did you spend on yours?

I read a lot of reviews and they seemed like a really solid company. They send a measuring take so they make the dress according to your exact measurements. I, also, have a seamstress that I trust a lot with customizations and alterations.

I loved a dress from a boutique, but at $1,200 it was pretty steep - I found a similar dress online from David's Bridal, and luckily was able to scoop it up on sale in my size for $600 (661 after taxes) - I'm hoping the alterations aren't too much though!

I found my dream dress, that retails for $3,000 on Poshmark for $950! I thought I was getting a steal, but alterations are complicated so I'm paying $900 in alterations as well! Just make sure you keep things like alterations, accessories, sales tax, etc in mind as you are calculating cost - there are always extra costs that creep in.

Honestly I wanna stay under $3,000 I work in a bridal store in aware of what fabrics, styles, designers & so on & forty are good & worth it. I know it may not be where most brides are at money wise but I’m wearing this dress once & it won’t be used again until my daughter is well over the adult again to get married lol she’s almost two so have years before thinking of that day hahahah but yeah.

Mine was $1200 with cathedral length veil and jeweled belt.
    My fiancee would veto $3k
It would be a big No go on the $6900.
I haven't even told him there will also be alteration costs...🤷😱
But if you can afford it and it makes you happy, then say yes to the dress. Smiley smile

I spent $1900 on mine but it was the designer of my dreams. I personally think it’s a personal choice, if you have the money to spend on a more expensive dress that you fall in love with, spend it.

I was specifically looking for dresses that weren't too expensive since my parents were paying for it and couldn't afford much. I went to a total of 3 different shops before purchasing my dress. I bought it from a place that sells dresses off the rack. It was originally $1400 but I got it for $400 and I got quoted about $300 for alterations. However it could go down if my shoes are the right height to not need to fix the hem

I got my dress when David's Bridal had a big sale and it was $599 before taxes but after adding everything else to go with it it was $1200 plus another $540 in alterations.

Yeah, My budgets pretty small and originally I was just gonna go to like Macy's or something and just get like a $40 dress. But.... FH said it was a hard line for him that he wanted me in a dress. So, whenever I went to stores to try stuff on I told them the budget was $600, which gave me room for alterations and such(about $300). But I found THE dress, and it was perfect, only needs a bustle added and so I bought it for around $750.

I will jump in here. I got my dress from stillwhite.com. It was $275 down from $1300. At lot of them are pre-worn, but mine still had the tags on. They have a lot of dresses that would fit your budget. Good luck. It can be hard when you have a very small budget, but you can do it.

I spent $699 on my dress, but I went to Jillian’s Bridal Outlet in Hickory, NC. They buy out closing bridal boutiques and sell their dresses for cheap. My dress originally was $5500 and we just happened find it there.

My dress was $80 i was insistant I wearing a black dress (i hate white and wear black 99% of the time) i actually found my dress on amazon while looking for a formal Dress to wear to my fiances black tie Christmas party and fell I love with it...fast forward to this March when i finally gave in and said yes (he's asked several times in the last 11 year's but marriage never seemed for me)i didn't even bother looking at any others.i ordered it right away and can't wait to wear it this july. Really i think it all depends on the bride if you want it and you can get it then i say do it...most people don't like my black dress but hey aren't paying for it so it doesn't matter Smiley smile

I didn't want to go over $2500 - knowing that most dresses I was looking at were in the $1500-$2500 range. I ended up picking my dream dress (a little surprised/not quite what I was looking for at first!) for $995 and with alterations I'm sure it will come close to $1300-$1500 so we had big savings! But I'm glad we do because now I won't feel as guilty when looking for a veil, jewelry, shoes, or other items.

If you can afford it and it’s in your budget, go for it you only have the 1 day! However if you’re stressed on the price I would keep looking bc if you have a 2000 budget and the dress is 3000, you’re going to be really adding on another 200-500 for alterations, veil, shoes, undergarments, jewelry, etc it all adds up quickly.

I set my max budget for my dress at $1500, found dress for $1300, and will have about $300 in alterations I’m sure.
