How much did your engagement ring cost?

...If you don't mind sharing! Do you wish FH spent more? Less? Do you think he got a good deal? Did you guys set a budget ahead of time, or did he pick it all by himself? If all these details are TMI for you - just show us a pic of your ring!

E=mc2: sometimes I wish my DH had shopped around a little more. He paid the same exact amount for mine, but my center stone is only .6 karats (not that it's too small, but I feel like he could have gotten more for his money elsewhere). I know that my band is 18k gold and the center is flawless, but it so confused me when I see women with this huge center stone who paid just as much or less for theirs than mine and claim that theirs is flawless as well.

This is a horrible post...who cares what your ring cost? Super tacky of you to even post something like this in my opinion.

Mine was on sale for around 200. Fh would die if he knew I knew, he tried so hard to keep it secret, but I was reading my insurance and bam the price was right there lol. I didn't want an expensive ring or a big diamond, so I got a big sapphire lol

@Emmy Oh please, some people think everything is "tacky". People post all the time about how much their dress, flowers, venue, price per person, etc. are...why is ring cost such a taboo to some people? I said if it's TMI for you, then don't tell us.

I had this topic on my mind because I finally got FH to tell me how much my ring was. He wouldn't tell me for the longest time and I was so curious. He designed it and had it made by a jeweler who is a family friend - and paid $2800. It was appraised at more than twice that. And honestly (at the risk of sounding ungrateful) I kind of wish he spent less. That much money would look really nice in our house fund Smiley smile. But I wouldn't trade my ring for the world. I do love it.

Ughhh and that's why I never post pics with my rings on. I don't wear rings because my fingers are straight up fat. Literally every single size looks too tight even when it's too big. Hard to explain, but yea, I don't flash my ring around because it's a complex I have. It's also why I wish mine was bigger, because my sausage fingers dwarf the diamond.

I know you didn't mean to offend, but it's hard not to take it personal because even when I lose weight I still have the problem. But anyway, it doesn't hurt me and #wegood.

@Laura I think with the wedding we are paying for it as a combined effort together. My ring was out of his bank account with his hard earned money so I don't really feel as if it is my place to share.

Elyse: No, I totally get it. I can't really stand ring pics sometimes, especially with my rubber ring that I use at the gym for that same reason.

Also, if you don't like the question, don't answer it. Stop looking for reasons to be offended. Lordy.

It IS tacky, like Minnie Pearl with the price tag hanging off her hat.

Cost means nothing. Giant rings don't mean giant love. Let's see the pretty pictures and leave the bucks outta it.

TMI for me, as I'm pretty sure the only reason anyone would ask this question is to make judgmental comparisons. But I will share that I went with FH to look at rings, and told him I did not want him to spend more than our monthly rent payment on a ring. I felt that would be frivolous, given the financial goals we are trying to accomplish together.

@KM I do think people have a misconceived perception on how much rings can cost, so that's why i posted the price with mine. All the time i see instagram posts from jewlers offering $3,000 ring that is 3 karats, which is cool but i have no clue what they look like in person. But side note your ring is BEAUTIFUL so i think your husband did an excellent job.

I think the e-ring is a size 10 or 10.5 and FH's band is a 13. When I put his on, it still looked tight but flew off when I moved my hand. Can't win either way, so I'd rather have the smaller size and not worry about it falling off. First world problems, so I can't really complain.

Celia, in their defense, there are some things that I'm just genuinely curious about. It may come off as rude, because generally the reason behind the question is to compare and/or judge, but I'm as interested in this as I am in how much someone spends a month on groceries.

It's fascinating to me. Some people aren't judgey, just nosey.

More than what he should have - I know what it is worth because I took it and got it insured and insurance had to have the appraisal.

OP, I'm with you too. Many ladies here have no problem flaunting how much they're spending on everything for their wedding, so what's the difference here? I can't help but wonder if they're secretly disappointed it's not more! Hahaha

I don't care how much my ring costs. I would have said yes even if DH proposed to me with a ring he bought in a gumball machine.

I'll take this as an excuse to post my ring for the first time! We just got the renderings for the custom matching band, so I'll share that too. The diamond is from my mother's wedding ring, and then my fiancé did a custom setting. LOVE IT. (Oh, and ignore my disgusting hand; I was gardening this weekend, and my hands are all chopped up).

Kristen - Where did you get yours? Ours look the same Smiley smile

This is mine with my wedding band. We went ring shopping together. I wanted him to spend less, he thought he would spend 4x as much. I know how much he spent because Jared's put me through the ringer and back with a horrific situation for the first year of our engagement. But it is finally settled and both rings were re-made. I have no issue with posting the price, but I know some people do. Mine is just under $6k for the set. It was a mounting and band matching set, and we purchased the diamond separate. The center stone is .76 carats, D, SI2. FH said he could have spent less on something that wasn't completely colorless, or spent a ton more for a better clarity, but overall because of the cut (Round Brilliant cut) you can't see any imperfections with the naked eye. So he went with the most colorless as possible. I think he made the right choice. He originally got a I1 but Jared's chipped my stone without telling me and had to replace it with a similar or better stone. Since D's are rare (from what they say) it took them over a month to find a stone close enough to replace :/ So I got a better clarity by one step up.

He got a really good deal on it, because he taught the owner's grandkids music lessons! =) I love it! We custom designed it with the jeweler!

@Pancakes I was thinking the same thing the last time I saw your ring! FH got it at a local jewelry store, so I know they're not completely identical. They look so similar though. I'm obviously a huge fan of your ring Smiley smile
