How much do cases of wine actually cost?

Danielle, on January 15, 2016 at 9:35 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

Hello Smiley smile I'm Danielle and my fiance and I are getting married in 6 months! I've done a ton of research about pretty much everything wedding related, but I'm still stuck on the booze part.....I know pretty much how much we'll need and I was thinking 2 cases, one of white and one of red. And then of course beer.

My question is, how much do the cases usually run? I'm sure it varies by brand and there's no one specific answer. But I wondered how much any of you guys paid for cases of wine?

I'm planning on buying from a local liquor store, because they said if I bought a case I could get a 10% discount, but they didn't give me any other info.

Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks Smiley smile

Crappy wine can be as cheap as $4-6 a bottle. I prefer to start in the $8-12 range. It can cost hundreds per bottle. It depends on what your budget is and what you want to serve your guests. How many guests are you having? Two cases seems low.

How many adults are you having? We budgeted about a bottle of wine per adult. Plus we had beer. So unless it's a small wedding. You will need more wine. One bottle of wine is equal to about 3 glasses.

As Chrissy mentioned there is cheap 2 buck chuck from trader joes and there is $100 per bottle wine. It doesn't have to be expensive be be good though.

It really does depend. Some of the boxed wine (botta box, black box) are really good and less expensive. You'd just have to decant them into carafes.

It IS a small wedding. we're expecting about 60 people. None of them are that in to wine anyway, most prefer beer. So I'm not too concerned about the amount.

I know, bottles of wine range in price. But what about a whole case? Is it basically just the cost of a bottle of whatever brand times 12? Or is it less expensive than buying individual bottles?

It's the bottle price times 12.

ETA: our local grocery store does 30% off each 6 bottle of wine. Check with your local grocery or ABC stores.

One of our fave inexpensive wines is Rex Goliath. It's only $10 per magnum.
