How much does a make up trial cost?

I just received a quote for myself and bridal party. I plan to have 7 BM. The trail for the bride is 100. Wedding day for $150 for the bride and $75 for each BM. Total minus hair is $775. Is this a reasonable price? Do I need to include my mom's makeup?

Sounds a bit high. I had a makeup professional who does celebrities, and she didn't charge me anything. My bridesmaids were $25 each.

The price you were quoted depends upon where you are located. If you feel it's high, call around and get other pricing.

You will find rates vary by location & number of artists in your area. If the market is swamped with makeup artists, their rates will be competitive but if you happen to be situated in a city where MUAs are few & far between, you may be limited unless you choose to look outside your local area.

The years of experience & learned skills of a MUA will also affect the price you are quoted. Cheaper isn't always the best option. A makeup artist who is in demand may have a higher rate than others, but if you truly love her work & personality, the extra money may be well worth it.

I personally don't charge more for the bride. I provide the same attention of detail to everyone. I don't charge for travel, but rates are higher for those outside of a 75 mile radius.

For onsite the day of it's $150 for me and $55 each of my bridesmaids. This includes a free trial for me with and free make up for my flower girl (just blush, lip gloss and light mascara if we want it). This is also for airbrush make up and lashes at both the trial and the day of. So your quote to me sounds a bit spot on for what I have found. I did find a salon to do it for $40 including lashes (not airbrush) but we would have had to have our make up done by 1pm and the wedding is not until 5 so that was not the greatest idea.

I used MAC for my civil ceremony here....trial was FREE and day of appointment, I just had to spend $50 on products. It came out great and I loved it!

I'm paying $135 for mine, and it includes three meetings, a consult (1hr), a trial run (2hr) and then she comes on site (!yaay!) for day of makeup (1.5hr). She includes airbrush makeup and either single or lash strips. She also can include BM for $50 or $25 for just airbrush foundation.

As Celia stated, in my area the price you were quoted was in the correct ballpark. As in all professions, there is a wide range of professionals, and you will pay more for someone who has more experience/expertise and is in high demand. Everyone works within a budget and you should determine which areas are the most important to you and allocate your money accordingly.

Here in SC it's about $35 per person and that is airbrushed. Same for the trial as the day of the wedding.
