The average wedding cake costs between $300 to $700

According to our WeddingWire Cost Guide, the average cost of a wedding cake in the U.S. is around $500 with most couples spending between $300 to $700. Frosting type, size, and design complexity can all impact the cost, and in many places, cupcakes can be a bit cheaper.

The guide also has info on what goes into the total price of a wedding cake, what questions you should be sure to ask a wedding cake baker, and the option to filter and find the average cake cost in your location!

I'm in the DMV and got lucky with a baker for $3/slice, my second choice was $5.75. We'll be getting three layers, all different flavors!

We are doing a dessert buffet. 4 flavors of mini cupcakes, 3 flavors of mini cheesecakes, 2 types of brownies, and three flavors of bars. $650.

ADD: and that includes the 6 inch cutting cake.

We are doing 2 tiers and the remainder of the cake will be matching kitchen tiers - total between the 2 tiers and kitchen tiers is servings for 175. Cost is $2.50 a slice.

We paid $216, including the tax and service fee. This was for a cutting cake that's two layers. It has enough for 30 people, and we had a filling inside, but I only wanted a small cutting cake, but apparently that wasn't an option there. We absolutely overpaid and I recommend checking out all of your options before you pick something based on a time constraint. At least it's going to be yummy and delicious!

We paid $600 total - $4/per serving (the other $80 was for materials and delivery fee). 130 servings, and we reserved the top tier. Each tier was a different flavor and it was buttercream icing - the cost was actually based on the type of icing, which surprised me!

At this point I'm about to say fuck it and get cupcakes from Costco. We've had a rough go with cake people. That said, we may actually end up using a local grocery store and it will be about $150 for a small two tier cake and then we will get sheetcake to supplement.

Ours was included in our venue package, but slices start at $3.75. Multiply that by about 200 people, plus delivery fee, probably looking at close to $1,000. ETA: spelling

I haven't been on WeddingWire in a long time, and figured I would just troll a few posts for the fun of it, but I had to post for this one. We went to Custom Cake Design in Gaithersburg and they were very reasonable, but mostly amazingly delicious. I remember our bill for 120 cupcakes, plus a top tier for cutting was roughly $400. We had three different flavors that were phenomenal. I highly recommend them.

We're doing a 3 tier to feed 100 (for $300 entirely) another 100 mini cupcakes, 100 cake pops, 100 macaroons. We found our cake vendor on WW and the other vendors were from a family friend but will total to less than $700 for all of it

5.00 per slice. So ours was 1300 for a bride and grooms cake
