The average wedding cake costs between $300 to $700

According to our WeddingWire Cost Guide, the average cost of a wedding cake in the U.S. is around $500 with most couples spending between $300 to $700. Frosting type, size, and design complexity can all impact the cost, and in many places, cupcakes can be a bit cheaper.

The guide also has info on what goes into the total price of a wedding cake, what questions you should be sure to ask a wedding cake baker, and the option to filter and find the average cake cost in your location!

Chicago suburbs: We're having 100 cupcakes in 4 flavors and a 6-inch cake $310 plus $40 for delivery (bakers live 45 min from our venue and they will set up cupcake display as well)

Sandra, our cake is included with our venue but check out debi's cake studio in woodlawn. She seems to be reasonable and makes beautiful cakes.

SF suburbs: $4/slice including gum paste flowers and delivery. So mine is for 100 and cost $400. Also, includes an extra too layer or a cake on first anniversary. We chose the latter. Got quoted between $3.5 per slice and $11 per slice.

Im so envious with what you're paying ladies! Im from Los Angeles, and 10 years ago, when my hubby and I got married, our venue (Ritz Carlton) charged us $20/slice. Anyway, now that we're doing our renewal of vows , our venue has a $7/slice cutting/slicing charge, and that doesn't include your cake. So this time I have decided to have a dessert bar and just order a small cake for 2 (they have a ton of it on Pinterest ). Only paid $600 for everything.

@2yearsago I love Whole Foods mini cheesecakes!

I forget exactly how much, but under $200 (I think even under $150). Gotta love Sam's Club! I sampled it and it was delicious.

Forgot to mention, this is for 150 guests.

We are doing cupcakes instead of traditional cake. We haven't decided on flavors yet but they will be $9/dozen with no filling and $15/dozen if we chose filled flavors!
