How much for adding beading

CountryBride, on September 24, 2021 at 11:02 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
I recieved the call my reception dress is in , after waiting 6 months I am super excited I spent an extra 100.00 for extra beading to give my dress a little sparkle I assumed it would be sewn on, to the dress hence the 6 month wait, I was informed that I will have to go to a alterations specialist to have it sewn on. I know no one can give me a exact quote but I was hoping someone can give me a ball park figure

I don’t think anyone will be able to give you a ballpark figure here, especially without knowing the amount of beading you will be adding. $100 just for beading sounds like you are adding quite a bit, in which case the alterations cost might be quite high. You have to remember, every single bead must be handsewn one at a time- it is a very tedious and time consuming process.

Seamstress here ---- $20.00 an hour for hand beading. Typically I can get about 30" to 36" (linear inches) of SIMPLE beading done in that time frame.

Plan on at least 5 hours of work, minimum. Each bead has to be placed within the pattern of the lace. A seamstress can't just "Add beads" willy-nilly. (and please don't take it like I'm scolding you!) Beads would need to be randomly placed on the straps, and gradually fade out at the bottom of the bodice so everything blends and it DOESN'T look like you added beading. Best bet is to decide exactly what you want, WHERE you want the beads on the dress and even maybe sketch it out before heading to a seamstress. To give you an idea, I hand beaded the belt and the medallion for this bride - $250.00

Oh that belt really makes the dress shine! Is there a way you can lay your dress flat on a bed, with the belt around it, and just put a few beads on the bodice to get a feel for how it will look? Honestly, I don't think you need the extra sparkly, but as always, this is YOUR day so do what makes you happy!

After seeing the dress in person yesterday and seeing me in the dress my belt gives me extra shine to where I don't think I need the beading, I contacted their in-house alternation lady and she quoted me 40.00 an hour. while I have the money I don't really want to spend it
