How much lbs of Candy would you buy for a candy buffet for 150 people?

T & Co, on October 19, 2013 at 3:17 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hi, according to some sources it says 1/4 lbs of serving per person but that kind of sounds like a lot. That would literally mean I would have to get over 30 lbs of candy and the concept of ordering that much candy will kill in shipping. What sounds like a more realistic weight of candy for my guest capacity? Thank you ladies!

I would say that is probably about right. Some guest will take more. Some will take less. But you can't just buy enough for everyone to have 3 pieces, or some other small amount. 1/4 lb isn't that much. It just depends on the types of candy too. Do you have any bulk food or candy stores by you? Even like a costco or SAMs club? Or some bakeries even sell decent selections of candies. That would save you the shipping charges.

I just looked up online and most sites are saying 1/2 lb per person. So I would definitely estimate at least 1/4 lb.

1/4 lb is the minimum you should account for. Go to a local grocery store and measure out 1/4 lb. it's really not a lot. Not sure when your wedding is, but after Halloween, Valentines Day , etc candy goes on sale. Its cheaper to buy locally since you will save on shipping.

Yah I did notice shipping is very high for candy! Okay a Costco/superstore day shopping it is the only nice part of shopping online is you get places where you can order candy in specific colors.

Oriental trading has fs coupons sometimes and great candy prices too.

menards has great prices on candy too for b and m stores.

the amount also depends on if you are having other desserts and if this is a favor or a treat.

I'm going to check out Oriental Trading and definitely doing colored M & M's. A quarter of a pound isn't much at all. I was actually thinking more like one half of a pound per person, actually.

That's about right, quantity wise. I was just at a wedding as a guest, and almost everyone hit the candy buffet.

1/4 pound really isn't that much candy to be honest. Candywarehouse has had some free shipping with purchases over so many dollars before though, and some other coupons, so you might find some good deals with them.
