How much of your wedding Diy?

Kimberly, on June 23, 2019 at 1:02 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 56
Just wondering how much or how little certain DIY (or all!) aspects of your wedding are? Like we bought gorgeous gold lanterns and LED candles but plan on adorning the base with flowers. Also planning on using garland to decor some long tables on the venue.

I would say we’ve got a moderate amount of DIY. I made or am making signs, bridesmaids bouquets, a garland for the reception space, our card box, and our escort cards. Our centerpieces are technically DIY in the sense that we are not using a florist, but they’re just simple candles and flower petals. Invitations were designed on Vistaprint using one of their templates, so that’s another semi-diy. My mom is making my jewelry and I’m doing my own makeup as well. We wrote our own ceremony and vows. I think that’s all of it!

I love that your mom is making your jewelry! Do you have pics of your centerpiece vision?

Thanks! This is the really bare bones centerpiece mock-up I did a while ago. The candles and table number will be the same, but the petals will be real yellow freeze dried ones and the greenery will be different. I’m also toying with adding some small wood rounds under each candle like in the photo below, but I’m not sure yet.

I didn’t do any DIY for our wedding. I had a destination wedding so I had to travel with a lot as is so I took only was was really need it. I also had a modern theme decor with signs printed in acrylic that it was impossible for me to make myself.

    So far, my DIYs are:

making paper flowers from maps for centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres (our wedding is travel themed). The other flowers in our bouquets will be artificial flowers from Hobby Lobby

Spray painting vases from the dollar store for centerpieces. I am using a gold glitter paint!

Spray painting candle holders from Ikea for ceremony aisle decor.

I may end up with some more DIY, but that is all for now 🙂

What a beautiful and simple setup with the candles. I do love the round woods but they’ll probably set you back, if it’s in your budget I think they’ll look great!

My wedding date is 10/3/2020, which gives me plenty of time to get all of the DIY done. Hobby Lobby has been a god send for all of my DIY stuff!

The description of your DIY sounds beautiful!

Definitely. Especially when they have 50% off floral! I love your inspo pics; I'm sure yours will turn out equally as beautiful!

Right now - just my signs. All the chalkboards I bought from Hobby Lobby when they were having their 1/2 sale (with the exception of the big one as that was on clearance for $20, and the medium size easels as they are considered furniture). The small chalkboard were done via free hand, the bigger ones I bought decals from Etsy. I have one more to do (medium easel - that says booze & I do’s, it will be by the outside bar that will serve the cocktail hour after the ceremony). I had the decal designed it’s attached but the black portion is actually white to stick out on the chalkboard. Besides that it’s just buying the easels for the flat chalkboard (sadly these do not go on sale at Hobby Lobby) so I usually grab 1x at a time & use their 40% coupon.

I love your decals! And your wedding hashtag. In your opinion from what you’ve seen what’s the average price for easels and chalkboards?

Thanks those are sunflowers to match my bouquets and theme. My cousin suggested wrapping garland around the lanterns as well.
