How much say are your bridesmaids getting in the choice of their dresses.

Apologies if that is worded badly, first post here. But how much say are you giving your bridesmaids when it comes to the bridesmaids gowns that they will be wearing. I've been a bridesmaid for 3 weddings, and all the time the bride picked out a dress and told us to order it. I'm leaning towards picking out a color and telling my bridesmaids to find a gown in that color. My sister says I should just pick the dresses and tell them that they are wearing what I choose. Curious to know how much say your bridesmaids are getting.

My girls will be wearing dresses in the same color and made by the same designer but in different styles which they had significant input in. The way I see it, it's not fair to force them all into the exact same style of dress when everyone has different body types. But we will still get the uniformity of the same color/designer

My girls are ordering through Azazzie, I just let them know their dress has to be long, chiffon and in Dusty Sage and they could order whatever dress they wanted within those parameters.

All my girls have different body types and I didn't want to stress finding one dress that looks goon on 7 people, and I want them to all be comfortable.

I told them where (Azazie) and asked them each to choose between 2 colors of my color palette. I want my side to have 3 colors and the groom side to have 2 of the colors. Now that they have the color, I'm letting them choose any of the styles on Azazie.

I gave my girls the color, the length and the material. I wanted everyone to be in chiffon or mesh. They all picked their own style. My girls have very different body shapes and are comfortable in different things, so I wanted them to feel comfortable at my wedding.

I picked a color and a couple of dresses from Azazie. I created a showroom with the dresses I chose and they each chose their dress from those choices.

As a bridesmaid, I’d prefer to know the color and designer but either get to choose my own style or have a few style options to choose from.

My sister-in-law wants all of us in the same color and style, but she ran several options by us to make sure we were comfortable with the one she chose.

I'm picking their dresses out. I'm hearing their opinions as well, but it is my decision. I'm also paying for them, so at best they get a cute dress, and at worst they get a free dress. They can live with it.

You want your bridesmaids to feel comfortable in what they're wearing! It's always a good idea to let them have some say. I can tell you I would not want to be in a wedding where I was told the exact dress to wear without having any say!!! If you can get your girls together to go shopping that's your best bet, then you can agree on something.

I researched websites and the colors. I gave them the color options and they will choose the dress from the websites. They are all different body type and sizes so I don't want to make them wear a dress they are not comfortable with.

I am doing this, most likely right down to Dusty Sage (it's such a nice color!). I haven't asked my bridal party yet, but the girls I intend to have vastly different body sizes, shapes, and proportions and I want them all to look and feel their best. I think having the variety of silhouettes and necklines will be visually interesting, while all will still be unified through the color, length, and material. I have been fortunate to have some choice in the bridesmaid dresses I have worn and so would like to offer the same to my bridesmaids. I also trust all of them to make good decisions and not pick anything too out there - after all, I am or was a bridesmaid for 3 of them so I have some idea of their taste!

LOVE the dusty sage! If you're thinking far head like me, Generation Tux has a dusty sage vest/tie combo that matches almost perfectly!

I let them choose their own styles for the same exact reason! All my girls are different heights, weights and builds, and I want everyone to be comfortable enough to enjoy the night and feel themselves, Bridal Dresses aren't sister hood of the traveling pants, not one dress style is going to compliment every body!

You're the bride. You decide (no rhyme intended).

If you want all the same dress, you tell them what to order (please be budget respectful, there are a lot of very affordable dresses out there).

I've been a bridesmaid in both situations-one where we were given a gown to wear, and I got mine off poshmark used and it saved me a lot of money, and the other time where we just chose a dress from the designer in a particular color as long as all the girls were cohesive, she didn't mind.

I am renting my girls their gowns from Rent the Runway so they don't have to worry about wearing it again and we will just do minor safety pin/hem alterations with hem tape day of (and they send backup sizes just in case).
