How Much Time Should i Allow for rsvp Chasing?

Mandi, on May 7, 2019 at 12:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
I know absolutely everyone will RSVP immediately as soon as possible and I won't have any outstanding RSVPs to chase down after my deadline hits. 😆😆😆
But on the off chance, how much time should I allow for that?
I'm getting married on the 28th.
My venue needs counts on the 11th.
Is the 2nd too early to have RSVPs due?
It's 3 weeks, 5 days before the wedding, but it also gives me 9 days to chase down RSVPs.

So
2nd - RSVPs due
9 days for chasing down RSVPs
26 days before wedding
11th - counts due
28th - wedding time

I don't think that's too early. We plan to make our RSVP deadline one week before final headcount is due. It will likely be a Saturday. We'll wait until Tuesday for stragglers, then reach out to everyone that evening. We will let them know that if we don't receive a final answer by Friday, we'll assume they cannot make it. Then we'll turn in our final counts on Saturday.

I think this is a great timeline! My RSVPs are due 1 month before the wedding and 3 weeks before the final count is due. This will give me time to chase people down... if necessary lol

That's not too early! My rsvps are due 2 weeks before our venue needs the count.

    I did:

    Wedding is May 18th

Invites sent March 20th (about 8 weeks out)

RSVPS due April 15th (4 weeks out)

Reached out on April 18th-ish to slackers saying if you don't RSVP by the 25th, you'll have to be counted as a no. Within a week I had all but maybe 5-6. Some responded to my message, but then sent in the RSVP card as well - we didn't do online RSVPs.

That meant I had the numbers I needed/wanted about 3 weeks before the wedding.

I'd actually give yourself a little more time just in case, I've seen too many horror stories on here of people having to chase down RSVPs from dozens of guests. I'd go with sometime between February 25th and 29th. Maybe Friday, February 28th, which would be a month before your wedding? Then over that weekend you can figure out who you need to chase down.

I gave myself a week between when RSVPs are due and when the final numbers are due (2 weeks out). So the rsvp deadline is 3 weeks out. I can’t imagine it taking longer than a week to get ahold of people.

I think that's fine. While it may seem early to the guest. You need your headcount due obviously. 9 days is just about the amount of time I am leaving myself as well!

    Here is what I did:

    Wedding - July 20, 2019

Save the Dates - October 2018

    Invites - late April 2019

    RSVP Deadline - June 10, 2019

Actual RSVP Deadline for two vendors who need early final counts - June 20, 2019

So I gave myself 10 days.

I think your deadline is fine. You probably won't have to spend too much time tracking down those that don't respond, but it'll give you more time to do your seating! I followed up and had answers from all of our non-responders in one evening in probably less than two hours.

Your deadline seems fine. My wedding is July 20, and my RSVP deadline is June 15th. My venue doesn't need the final headcount until 3 business days prior to the wedding, so July 17th.
