How much to spend on flowers?!?!?

Tricia, on February 7, 2017 at 9:51 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

I am looking into different florist and I am curious what your thoughts are on the budget for flowers. What is a reasonable amount to spend on centerpieces, bridal bouquets, brides maid bouquets and Boutonnieres?

Our centerpieces are about $125-250 each depending on the style on that table, bridal bouquet is $200, bridesmaids are $85, corsages for grandmas are $20 each, bouts are $20 each. Our entire floral cost is around $3500 for a wedding of 200 people.

ETA: That price also includes some floral for the ceremony.

Depends on how many centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres you need. And what kind of flowers you use and the style of centerpiece you're looking for. And your location.

I was quoted $2500 for 15 centerpieces, 1 bridal bouquet, 5 bridesmaid bouquets, 12 corsages and boutonnieres, and some ceremony decor (arbor and aisle). Another florist gave me a quote of $4500 for the same exact stuff and another gave me a quote of $1800.

It really depends on the time of the year and the flowers you choose. Some flowers are higher in price than others. Mine is about 800 for 6 bouquets, 7 bouts, 10 flower crowns, and 3 for my mother and grandmothers. No centerpieces.

My floral bill is at $750. It includes:

    Bridal bouquet

    1 bridesmaid bouquet

    1 flower crown

    1 flower wand

    5 boutonnieres

    3 corsages

6 centerpieces (pumpkins w/flowers in the center)

I'll be using the centerpieces to line the aisle and they'll double as table decor. Flowers weren't a big priority for us as far as decorating the ceremony site and for our "reception" we reserved a private room at a restaurant so we didn't feel need to decorate there either

I am realizing this definitely depends on where you live. I am glad you asked this though. I got my proposal yesterday and had sticker shock Smiley smile

It really depends on what you want and where you live. You can do DIY flowers from Sam's Club for $500 or you can spend 10k on elaborate arrangements from a florist. I would say the average spent in my area is around 3k for moderate arrangements.

I am hoping it's $500 or so for 25 centerpieces and 2 bouquets. But our stuff is super simple and basic.

Like everyone has said - this varies a ton by your location, the season, what kind of flowers you want to use, how big each of the bouquets / arrangements are, etc.

In general though - the cheapest I've seen bridesmaid bouquets is around $75-$80 each (can go up to $150-$200 each), cheapest bride bouquet is around $100-$150 (can go up to $300), cheapest centerpieces starting at $75-$100 and can go up literally into the thousands!

You can always ask your florist to work with you on your budget and ask for alternative suggestions! Bouquets can be slimmer (less volume), or you can use large "filler" flowers that give lots of volume without a huge price tag like greenery and hydrangeas!

My best budget-saving tip is to re-use all of the bridesmaid bouquets for the reception. They can be re-used as reception centerpieces, or as additional decor on cocktail tables or the cake table / guest book table, etc. You can also vary the sizes of your centerpieces! We had 21 tables and did 7 big tall centerpieces ($$&dollarSmiley winking, 7 low centerpieces ($&dollarSmiley winking, and 7 centerpieces re-used the bridesmaid bouquets (&dollarSmiley winking. This way it still felt like we had a ton of gorgeous flowers but we were able to vary the price points!

My bouquet is only $95 dollars, as I'm keeping it pretty simple. My bm's bouquets are $65 each. The mom's are going to be carrying mini bouquets for like $30 or $40 each, wrist corsage for FH's grandmother at $40, boutonnieres are around $10 each.

ETA: my state is generally cheaper than most states, and I'm also getting married in a smaller town and going with a local florist instead of bringing someone in.

Also, although we're planning on reusing the bm bouquets and the flowers from the ceremony (doing 4 columns connected with tulle with a floral arrangement on top of each $400) for the centerpieces, we may have to add some more. Also getting flowers for my cake for $70, decor for the staircase for $100, and decor at the front entrance for $375.

We spent around 7k, but that included 225 chair covers, all rental goods, décor/flowers for the ceremony room, foyer, and cocktail hour room, 26 guest tables, a bridal party of 16, and 8 parent/grandmothers. It included delivery, set-up, take-down and clean-up.

We are using a flower shop that grows all of their own flowers. Our total is $375 for 1 bridal bouquet, 7 bridesmaid bouquets, 5 corsages, 13 bouts, 2 flower crowns, 2 flowers collars for our dogs and 20 centerpieces! Ours are simple with sunflowers, babys breath, viking mums and a red berry type flower. We're from WI but it will all depend on where you are. Flowers weren't big on our list so we didn't want to spend a lot.

Total cost for our flowers will be around $500-$600. I have experience making bouquets however a cousin of mine will be purchasing my bouquets. We will be having only a maid of honor and then the best man. 1 bouquet I will make for her and then 2 boutonnières as well. Corsage I will be purchasing for mom, mother in law and our flower girl/grandma at $20. Centerpieces are single stem flowers different variety ranging in $2-$15. Greenery costing $3-$5, it's a cheaper way to go but also looks beautiful! A friend of mine does event decorating so she will be setting up ceremony and reception free of charge. Flowers depend on your location. We live in California near Los Angeles so will be purchasing from Los Angeles Flower district

We budgeted around $3000 mainly because the type of flower I want is expensive. However, we were able to get everything for about $1800. My bouquet, 6 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen, 3 corsages, 1 bout, 10 centerpieces, 1 alter piece, and 2 huge arrangements for the church
