How much weight can you realistically lose in 30 days?

Erin, on August 3, 2017 at 5:58 PM

I know that the process cannot be rushed and that losing weight is a lifestyle change. I am just wondering how much weight is possible to lose in 30 days? I want to lose weight in a healthy way. Also, what is your best weight loss tip? Thank you to anyone who responds.

Depends on eating habits, and physical activity. I would say if you workout and eat right, you can lose about 10 pounds...and keep it off. If you start a "fad diet" you will gain all right back. ETA: Myfitnesspal is awesome. You put in your goal weight, how many pounds you want to lose a week, your activity level and it gives you calorie and nutrition goals. I also find a new workout routine on Pinterest every eight weeks. You don't want your body to get used to the same repetitive routine.

I do low carb; I just function better when I don't have a lot to pick from; less decisions=less missteps.

Everyone's body is different, and as many said here, the more you have to lose, the more you will lose at first. For one thing, larger bodies require more resting calories. The cruel irony is that as you lose weight, you need less calories.

Move more. Get a fit bit. Stand up more (my standing desk is coming today!) And don't build your mood around the number between your toes.

I'm on weight watchers, today marks two weeks for me. I lost 8.4 pounds so far! I eat healthy and go to the gym only 3 times a week. I plan to start to go more Smiley smile

If you estimate 2lbs a week, that's 8lbs a month. If you do low carb, remember that it's not very sustainable. You need carbs to function, if you are needing a quick fix I'd recommend low carb but if you are wanting to lose weight and keep it off (without it popping back on the second you add carbs back in) work on lean meats, good carbs, and greens.

Also exercise! Diet is 80%, but I'd work on strength training (more muscle burns more calories) and cardio of course.

To add, FH does personal training and I lost about 30 lbs over the course of 3 months. No alcohol, clean eating and 90% strength training with limited cardio (cardio bores me and I hate it)

I lost almost 20 lbs but I worked out twice a day 6 days a week. Ate chicken breast and steamed broccoli and TONS of water. While this is not ideal, it's possible. I did weight training at lunch and cardio in the evening. Good luck!

Lots of cardio and water. Meal prepping is also very helpful.

The average person who eats a healthy diet would lose between 1-2% of their weight per week. I.E. if you weighed 150 lbs to start you could safely lose 1.5-3 lbs per week on average.

Cutting out added sugar will do a world of a wonder. Honestly. Eat as much as you want, but nothing with added sugar. All my digestion problems have gone away and I'm down like 5 lbs in just 2 weeks. You have to check the labels though....because even if it says "no sugar" on the label, it usually has high-fructose corn syrup or other variations of sugar. I have a list of all the words it could be and use that when buying food. But mainly I just try and not eat any processed food in general.

I'd say 1lb/week unless you have a high body fat percentage, then you could lose more. Your body stores energy in those extra fat cells, so your body will panic if you lose weight too fast and it's very unhealthy. You essentially have to trick your body into losing weight without realizing you're losing weight.
