How much?

Mrs. Spring, on November 21, 2020 at 9:32 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 48

I noticed many brides look COMPLETELY different on their wedding day versus their everyday look, sometimes unrecognizable.

I used to wear eyeliner eyeshadow and mascara every day. I haven't worn any makeup in a good while. I just plan on doing a very natural look because I don't want to look so different or like I have so much on my face.

I don't ever wear makeup, so I'm definitely not planning on going crazy for my wedding day. I hired a makeup artist, but will only really do eye makeup and maybe a few other minor things. I'd like my makeup to look natural and like myself on my wedding day.

That’s so funny, this was actually the topic of conversation in our house last night! The make up artist I hired for my wedding posted a before & after picture on Instagram similar to the ones you posted above (MAJOR difference- like almost a whole different person!). I showed my fiancé and he said “Yuck. Please don’t do that for our wedding”. Not that the girl didn’t look gorgeous in the “after” picture, she just didn’t look anything like herself. I used to wear minimal make up every day to work- usually just concealer (to hide the redness of rosacea), mascara and brow gel/powder (because I have blonde eyebrows). But since the pandemic hit, I haven’t worn make up at all. For the wedding, I plan to have air brush make up done in order to even out my skin tone and I will probably do fake lashes just to feel a little fancier than every day. But I don’t plan to do heavy makeup or go super glam. I want to look like myself, just the best version of myself.

Just remembered something my fiancé said last night after he looked at some of the before/after pics from my makeup artist’s insta page...he said if he was the groom & one of those girls came walking down the aisle, he’d think he was at the wrong wedding 😂😂

So true!!! One of the main reasons I chose my make up artist was because her before and after pictures looked like the same person just the after was the best version of that person.

I wear a full face every day (or I did before the pandemic - since I'm work from home and rarely have video meetings I just shower and start work lol). However, when I talked to my MUA I specifically said I wanted to look like the best version of me and that's how I felt/looked.

By the same token, if you have a VERY formal, evening wedding, it can sometimes call for more makeup than "normal" or at least a look that's more dramatic.

I don’t wear makeup at all (unless it’s a special occasion or when I know I’ll be in pictures). I had full professional glam for my engagement pictures and my wedding. I even did a full glam on my own for my post-wedding photos. While I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis (mostly because I don’t want to put in the time necessary to do it in the morning), I knew I wanted my pictures to come out as best as possible. A good makeup application enhances your features and I wanted that shown on my expensive and high quality photos.
Pictures include random, non-made up face and examples of my makeup looks.

I don't wear much makeup on a daily basis - usually just foundation, when I was working in the office - but I do a semi-full face for going out. I am not very artistic with makeup and don't have that much time on a daily basis but I do like the look. I plan to go full glam for the wedding.

Thank you. That was done by my original MUA, whose work I didn’t get to use for our actual wedding because we had to change everything a million times. I’ll get to use him for our reception next year, so that’ll be nice.

I don't wear makeup daily mainly only for events and occasions. I wore makeup for my minimony and will definitely also wear it for my big wedding

My daily makeup go-to is an eyebrow pencil and mascara. I like wearing eyeshadow and natural-looking fake lashes for special occasions, which is what I'm planning on doing for my wedding. I found a nice salon in the city where I'm getting married that offers an affordable eyes-and-lips makeup option, which is what I'm planning to ask for. I really dislike foundation and hate it even more when I'm getting my makeup done and being pressured into wearing it, so I was excited to find this option!

Everyone has their own style. Instagram makeup is *always* over the top costume styles because it is intended to show off what an artist can do, not what what is necessarily flattering or that people wear out and about. More often than not, I've seen what they call "bridal makeup" which looks like she's not wearing anything with 20 products listed.

Either way, there's nothing wrong with a bride wanting to look like her vision of pretty on her wedding day.
That said, during the pandemic, I wear lipstick and eyeshadow/liner to feel like myself, and I have no gifts/talent in that area despite the number of youtube videos available.

I have known some people who had that type of look for their wedding. They looked nice, but when you look at their wedding photos, it just looks nothing like them. I never wear make up. If I have an interview or a wedding, I may throw on some eyeliner and mascara, but that's the extent of it. I was very specific with my MUA that I wanted to look like myself. During our trial she did some contouring and stuff and I was like "nope." My face is my face. I want it to look like it. She was a little surprised since I guess most people go heavy (I am in Jersey afterall). She fixed it and it looked great. This is why trials are so important!

I wear simple, basic makeup on the daily. For my wedding, I definitely wore more than normal, but I still looked like myself. During my makeup trial, I told my makeup artist I wanted a more natural look.

I wanted to look like my best self, accentuating my best features, but most of all to look like me. I did my makeup, with assistance just to blend in a sheer foundation at hair and dress edges, and under chin, on neck. We were very happy with our pictures of US, not plastic looking strangers.

I don’t wear a ton of makeup day to day, but I love an excuse to get dolled up! I went more glam for my engagement and wedding makeup, but still felt like myself. Makeup will also photograph lighter than it looks in person, and will do a great job of accentuating features.
