How necessary is lingerie?

MrsPoutine, on March 17, 2016 at 2:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

So my dress is a very fitted, structured corset bodice with a ballgown. I am having cups sewn in. As I go through my wedding to-do's, the one I've kept ignoring is "buy lingerie". I'm not sure how necessary a spanx-type of undergarment is necessary considering there's nothing to "smooth out". And wouldn't going commando make it easier to pee in the dress?

Ladies, what did you wear under your dress? Any advice or pointers?

I went naked as a J-Bird. We showered after the reception and clothing wasn't needed afterward. ......4 days into honeymoon and haven't needed to bust out the sexy stuff. To each their own though.

What if you're so nervous you have to pee your "pants"? Wouldn't you want some undies to catch it??

I bought it for the wedding night and packed it in my overnight bag. Then I just changed into it, I wouldn't want to wear it all day long. You get sweaty in the dress.

    Nothing for me.

Britt, uh, get your bladder checked. You shouldn't be leaking at this age... And your underwear should not be acting as a panty liner?

Lol good point. I had a bathroom in the green room. However, I did saddle mount a potty later that night.

I personally would wear underwear, just in case. I would be concerned about having my period or having to hold my pee in too long, because someone is taking to long in the bathroom. Or its the middle of the ceremony.... lol that would be my luck ;]

Bought from Victoria's Secret (for $20!) a waist shaper thing that goes on like underwear, has a thong back. I am a little worried about going pee in it though. might wind up pulling it to the side a lot. my dress isn't poofying so I can pee along but the VS thing is tight and I can't imagine pulling it up and down all night. also going to buy a nice white lace strapless bra.

I feel like it would get uncomfortable. I'm not planning on buying any, FH says "its just going to come off anyways" So I don't even bother with it. I do plan on getting some cute COMFY panties though. Maybe something sexier for afterwards.

Long line bra and cute panties. No lingerie. I was way too tired that night. I'm glad there was no lingerie.

If you don't think you need spanx, don't wear them. And if you're more comfortable going commando, I know plenty of brides who have done the same. Nobody will be able to tell either way in a ball gown.

I just wore a pair of seamless cheekies. I also ended up not needing to pee once I put my dress on.

I've never gone commando, so I don't have much advice, lol. But I wore comfy underwear, and brought sexier lingerie in case we were in the mood after the wedding. But we got to the hotel around 3:30 a.m. and we were exhausted, so no sexy lingerie was needed.

From the sound of your dress, it doesn't seem like you need any lingerie. I'm planning on wearing a bra with clear straps (it'll be hidden by the straps on my dress) and a cute pair of comfortable panties for the wedding. I'm undecided on the wedding night. I think I'll save the "dress-up" lingerie for the honeymoon.

I'm having cups sewn in too, and don't have a need for shape wear.. so I plan on just getting a pair of blue lace undies for my something blue. Smiley smile

Just cute undies and nothing else. My dress was a corset and kept the girls and everything where they should be.
