It would really help. Thanks!

Jamaica is my favorite place to go!!! My parents also go every year. The people there are so unbelievably friendly. It is a total blast.

I guess it's relative. We always travel off the resort on excursions, I can't imagine NOT exploring the "real" island.

I would go again. Be a smart vacationer anywhere that you go. Just some places require increased awareness.

Kingston and the crowded tourist areas are bad, go to negril or ocho rios. if youre super worried, leave your bling diamond at home and wear old shoes

Jamaica is as safe as you make it! We flew into Kingston and had car service to Negril and some areas were a little sketchy so we didn't stop. Once we were at our resort we walked off the resort and down to margaritaville and it was perfectly safe. Just make safe choices as you would anywhere US or abroad and you will be fine. And the water is worth the trip - so beautiful!!

If you end up being worried about Jamaica there is a sandals location in Nassau Bahamas. Though I have never stayed at tht hotel, the area is much more tourist friendly and you can go out on your own.

I have heard both sides of the story that it's good and bad etc. I have always wanted to go though, if I can survive scary parts of Memphis Im not too worried about Jamaica lol

Hi Threasa I am getting married in March in Jamaica and I will be honeymooning there. Jamaica is a beautiful island and the people of the island takes really good care of the visitors. I promise you that you might want to go back for an anniversary.

I went to Jamaica last year. It was wonderful! We stayed at Couples Tower Isle and it was the best 10 days of my life (not including my wedding). We ventured off the resort to get tattoos! Ok, probably not the safest thing in the world, and I wouldn't recommend it- but we did it and survived. (Its a long story- we didnt just go find a tattoo place..) We met some of the friendliest, most genuine people there. Go! Go, go, go!

I go to Jamaica every year. Just stay on the resort and use licensed tour companies for your excursions and you'll be fine. I've never had an issue and absolutely love it there. I have traveled all over the place and keep going back...

Jeez, I never knew Jamaica was a spot to be concerned with. Do you know how many people panicked when South Africa was our destination? We left our rings at home, brought fake ones, and didn't run around on the streets at night...like any other place in the world. Personally, the only country that I've ever felt 100% safe at all times were spots in Japan. You take a risk at night even being in parts of Downtown Seattle.

As for beggars, am I the only one that picks a random obscure language and yells back like I'm crazy and don't understand them? My little knowledge of German worked pretty well while on our Honeymoon. They don't understand me, I don't understand them...we're all good!
