How Short is Too Short?

Bri, on September 13, 2018 at 12:54 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
I know people will get bored if the first dance and Father/Bride Mother/ groom dances are super long but how short is acceptable to ask our DJ to cut them down to?
Neither of us wants to be up there very long awkwardly dancing. What do you think a good length per song is?

I think 1-3 minutes per song is good. 1 if you are trying to keep it really short.

I'd say about 1-2 minutes is acceptable. You're right that as guests we don't want to sit there watching you dance forever but we still want to see!

My dad and I danced to the 1st 2 minutes of our song.

We are capping our songs at 2 minutes max. The mother/son song will stop at like 2:30 and that's pushing it lol.

I figure Dancing with the Stars routines are typically under 90 seconds..... They are AWESOME and I'm still usually quite ready when they end. I doubt anyone is going to be thinking "Wow! I sure wish the B& G would have danced longer!" Smiley winking (On the other hand, we went to a wedding where they did a B&G dance, a MOG&G dance, a FOB& Bride dance, and a MOB & Bride dance -- ALL to full-length songs.... Yikes! It was a good 15 minutes of total awkwardness.... Smiley sad )
