How should I add more poof to the dress? Please help!

STB Mrs. Potts, on April 16, 2011 at 2:29 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14

I bought my dress from DB and all of their slips didn't seem to give i the POOF I wanted. I was thinking maybe a hoop skirt, but IDK if that would work with my dress. Attached is the picture of the dress on me, and I don't want just the bottom half of the dress to be big, I kind of want it like the second picture I will attach. Is this possible? Thanks ladies!

Hmmm... to be honest, i don't know that you can really replicate the look of the second dress -- the cut is a bit different, and the fabric of the skirt is different... all of which are creating the 'poof' of that second dress...

your dress is beautiful btw... have you tried other bridal shops or looked online for alternate petticoat / crinoline / slip options?

I have looked online, but the only thing I have really found are the slips that look like DB's which when they had me put them on, it was just the bottom of the slip that had "Poof" Thank you for the help though! I was thinking I wouldn't be able to replicate the poofiness. lol. Oh, and thank you for the compliment on my dress! I will try to look around online for something different!

First let me say i love your dress, and i think its the perfect dress for you, the shape is amazing, second, i agree with ashlee where i dont think u will be able to get to that poof.. BUT.. i think you can get a better poof, just wont look like the 2nd pic because of the fabric difference, look online at lilywedding.com to see their petticoats. a friend of mine got her "poof" one from there and it worked great, prices where good to.

I really love your dress! I have the dress style in the second pic, and it naturally poofs like that...they prob have one of the underskirts you tried underneath to add the extra oomph. I agree that I don't know whether you'll be able to achieve that type of poof with your dress. A hoop maybe a little difficult to find but it would do what you want!

This pic of mine has literally nothing underneath to help with that poof.. it's just how that dress works!

Your dress is beautiful on you...but like others have said, it's a different cut. I don't think any kind of slip will get it to poof all the way at the top of your skirt the way it does in the example pic you posted. I just don't think the fabric would work that way, even if the cut was altered. Just my personal opinion, but your dress looks great on you as is! I think that kind of poof makes any woman, no matter how thin, look like she has really, really, REALLY fat hips. Smiley smile

Lol. Thank you ladies! I will try to look at other bridal salons and see what kind of slip they think would look best!

Beautiful dress! I'd skip the hoop skirt idea just because they can be really hard to navigate....they bump into things, are very hard to go to the bathroom in, and difficult to sit in....Good luck finding a petticoat that works for you....Smiley smile

I'm not sure you can duplicate that shape skirt in your dress. From what I can tell your dress looks like an A-line dress and the one you want it too look like looks like a cinderella type dress.

I'm kind of thinking the same thing as Chelsea, it's going to be hard to get the poof with that dress. It could be the material or the cut, but I just don't see it poofing much more. My dress has a tulle bottom and poofed really easily with a simple petticoat, but I'm not an expert! You might be able to find something!

lThanks for all the input ladies, I now know not to get a hoop skirt. I didn't even think about how hard it would be to pee. lol. I will def. be going to other bridal stores to see what they have as options for my dress. Hopefully they have one that adds a little more poof, but if not, I still love my dress =]
