How should you wear your engagement ring on your wedding day?

Hi all, I’m curious to know how other people go about wearing their engagement rings right before the ceremony. My understanding is that the order of rings (and how I plan on wearing them) is wedding band closest to your hand and then engagement ring. How do you wear your engagement ring during the ceremony without having to take it off to put the wedding band on first? Do you wear it on the other hand?

    I've seen a few options, and I'm still debating what to do. Popular options are:

    Ring on right hand and then switch it once wedding band is on

    Ring on middle finger and then move it

    Don't wear ring and have hubby put both on you

    Wear ring as normal, put band on without moving ring, and then switch the order after the ceremony

    I gave mine to my dad before we walked down the isle. He kept it in his pocket until after the ceremony.

    I honestly totally forgot about it and just slipped it off quickly and discreetly right before the ring exchange and just put it on another finger and then switched it back after. Some people wear it on a different hand to start with and other don't have it on during the ceremony at all. It's really personal preference.

    My mom said she wore hers on her right hand and right before the receiving line she quickly switched it. I’ll probably do it that way. I’ve also heard of people getting theirs soldered before the wedding so then it’s already together and he would put both on.

    I wore mine on my left hand. My husband put the band on in front of it and then I switched it around after the ceremony.

    I’ve been thinking about this as well. I’m either going with putting it on my right hand and switching it over right after the ceremony ends or not wearing it altogether and then putting it on after the ceremony.

    I had my husband slide on the wedding band on the finger with my engagement ring. Then after the ceremony, I immediately switched the order!

    My sister asked me to wear hers for her on the day, and I gave it back to her after the ceremony.

    I'm planning on just wearing mine on my right hand and swapping it after the ceremony.

    I wore my engagement ring on my right hand during the ceremony so I could just move it over afterwards. But doing this confused my husband when it came to putting on the wedding rings lol. He needed some extra direction and told me he got confused when he saw my ring on my other hand

    I didn't wear mine before the ceremony--my FIL/the Best Man had all of DH and my rings. I wore a placeholder (just a thin band), though, because it felt weird not having anything on.

    I am the odd one out because I just wore my engagement ring on my left hand and put my wedding ring on and left them that way. I didn't swap them around at all. I figured well he put the engagement one on first and the wedding ring second so I'll just keep them that way Smiley smile
