When are you planning to take your honeymoon? Some people leave the night of the wedding, some leave the next day, others within a few weeks/months, or some prefer to wait until their first anniversary! How long after your wedding do you plan to leave for your honeymoon?

We're getting married on apr.16, 2022 and we are planning to take our honeymoon in januray 2023 . We wanted a ski honeymoon.

9 months is more than enough time to recover emotionally and financially.

1- We can save more and put more money towards our honeymoon , we can afford the honeymoon of our dreams.

2- The honeymoon phase of the marriage is not over yet, so we will celebrate our marriage and our love for each other with as much excitement as we would right after the wedding. It's not the same but I'm 100% sure the magic will still be there.

That sounds like a really good plan! Just enough time to regroup and get organized after the wedding, and then take off for the honeymoon.

We were originally going on a cruise to the Bahamas. We'd get married on Sunday and leave the next Sunday.

Since we had to cancel that and we're going to Key West now, we're leaving the next day! Getting married on Sunday, staying the night at a hotel connected to the local airport and leaving first thing Monday morning!

We hope so! I am sad we couldn't have the romantic European honeymoon I'd dreamed of, but we do have a lovely resort booked! I basically just want people to bring me things - cocktails, fuzzy slippers, meals, massages... and a full week of basically not using my brain, haha!

I got the advice to leave a day in between! So we will have the wedding on Sunday and then take off Tuesday! Talking to my mom it’s the one thing she regretted, she didn’t really get rest. So I offered it up to fiancé and he agreed big time! Give us a day to enjoy being married with our loved ones before taking off for the honeymoon!

I love the idea of two honeymoons! A smaller one shortly after the wedding, and a larger one later on. Sounds like you have a lot of big life events going on, congratulations on the house and the wedding!

That makes sense - I hope that you can get the time off that you need! I'm sure things will work out one way or another.

That's a smart idea! Also gives you both a chance to regroup and recover from the craziness of the wedding week before leaving for a week.

Totally makes sense to delay the honeymoon due to work schedules and avoiding tourist season! My fiance and I considered something similar about the weather as for when we'll take our honeymoon: we're getting married in summer, but thought about waiting until winter to take our honeymoon, just to go somewhere else when the weather is miserable in our state. But, it'd be easier to travel in the summer with his work schedule, so we're still figuring things out for our new date. I LOVE the honeymoon destination you chose!!!

Awesome!! I think having a few days in between the wedding and honeymoon will be nice to be able to regroup and get organized. My wedding is also on a Friday!

The nonstop flights are totally worth it!! I agree that I'd be hesitant to leave the next day, since I'd probably want some downtime to recover and regroup from a super busy wedding week. But leaving a few days after the wedding sounds like a great plan (especially with nonstop flights)!

That makes sense! If I were to leave for my honeymoon the next day after the wedding, I agree that a noon flight would be a bit less stressful than an early morning flight, lol. Great point about potentially losing the high from the wedding by waiting to leave for the honeymoon! Definitely something to consider.

Sounds like a great plan! I'm also not a fan of layovers, I almost go out of my way to book nonstop flights if I can make it happen, lol. Glad everything worked out for you!

Love the destination you picked!! My fiance and I were considering Hawaii for our honeymoon as well. Postponing certainly isn't fun, but glad to hear that it was easy to get everything switched once you postponed!

Our wedding was on a Saturday (April 24) and we left for our honeymoon on Monday (April 26) morning. It was the perfect amount of time for us to be able to get everything settled at home, pack, and get on the road (5hr drive to the honeymoon destination). It was also nice to have a full day at home to relax and spend some time with our cat before leaving for almost a week.
