How soon does a venue require a deposit?

You will be required to pay a deposit whenever you are ready to say yes to the venue, and want them to book your date.

A deposit is needed to reserve your date. If you are flexible on the date, then you likely have more time to decide on a venue.

My venue required a deposit upon signing the contract. And I went over all of it with them weeks before signing.


Ask tons of questions! Ask about the deposit, amount, payment schedule for the balance, any extras they provide, if you can use them for a bridal shoot, how soon you can get into the venue for set up and how late you can stay for break down and clean up.
Ask about tables, chairs, linens, candles, everything!
And if you dont have any other vendors yet, ask about their preferred vendors or vendors they would recommend for food, photos, cakes, etc...

Most definitely yes! You might have a date you want & love the venue but until you sign the contract & make a deposit, it’s not yours…

It really depends on the venue. For our venue, the deposit was due right away however it was a super small amount, so we decided to give a bit more now rather than later. But again, it really depends on the venue
