How soon is to soon?

A year is an average to short engagement these days. Many vendors are fully booked for 2022 and starting to book for 2023, so start ASAP.

Congratulations on the engagement!! It’s definitely not too early to start planning (especially with all the postponed weddings due to Covid)! Now is a good time to make your guest list and set your budget. You could also start researching vendors (ie, venues, photographers, videographers, etc.) and making lists of your favorites. If you don’t already have one, you can create a wedding board on Pinterest and start collecting ideas on the style/vibe of wedding you want., as well as a color scheme, type of florals, etc. And feel free to look at dresses online! It’ll help give you an idea of what you like when it’s time to actually try on dresses!

We were engaged for 54 weeks! We set a date within a week or so of getting engaged and I bought my dress about a month after. I started researching vendors almost immediately after. We didn’t book our 1st vendor until 9 months out. That being said we had a winter wedding, off season, and it was pre covid so places weren’t so booked up.
I’d say start at least researching now. You’ll probably want to make decisions and start booking vendors soon.

A year is considered a very short engagement. I got engaged in February last year but didn’t start planning until September when I found and we booked our venue for October this year. With only a year I started booking vendors immediately and even had a bunch tell me they were already booked for our date. So in like a month I booked our venue, DJ, caterer, day of coordinator, photographer, officiant, videographer and hair and makeup. The deposits were killer all at once, not we just have to figure out dessert. I just got my dress the beginning of the month and was told there a lot of delays with getting dresses right now so I would do that asap!

I got engaged 7/4/20 and found a venue 7/26/20 they were booking up fast 2022 I’m getting married on 4/23/22
