How to approach wedding planners?

Harriet, on June 17, 2021 at 9:46 AM Posted in Planning 1 3

My partner and I are just beginning the process of emailing venues etc. and next on my list of jobs to do is get in touch with wedding planners, but I don't even know where to begin? What should my initial emails even say? I don't want to bombard them with too many questions, but I also want to know a fair amount before going forward with anyone! Any suggestions on how to approach wedding planners for the first time?

Your initial email could include you introducing yourself, giving some details about you and your wedding (date, location, partner's name, theme if you have one, etc), listing what all you need help with (just day of coordination, or full planning, or specific tasks you'd like their assistance with, etc), and ask if they are available on your date and what their different packages/costs are (if they're not listed online). Once they reply, if you are interested in learning more, ask to set up a phone call or in-person meeting to discuss more details.

Hi Harriet!! Lisa gave amazing advice - you'll want to keep the initial outreach pretty brief but make sure to include the key points of your wedding date, location, and venue and ask about their availability and pricing.

If they are available for your wedding date and their pricing looks like it's in your range, then I'd set up a meeting or phone call where you can get into all the questions and details before deciding to hire them on!

Here's a great list of questions to ask that you can reference:
