How to ask my Dad’s best friends to walk me down the aisle?

Sarah, on July 6, 2024 at 1:38 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 1
Hi all-

My dad died about 9 years ago and he had two best friends that have known me since I was a baby. When we got engaged I mentioned to them that I wanted them to walk me down the aisle and they said they would if the timing worked. Now that we have a date and are getting ready to send the save the dates I’m trying to come up with a cute way to “officially” ask them. They aren’t local to me so it would need to be something I could mail or email etc. Any ideas? The cheesier the better…these big tough mountain men are giant softies and I know they miss my dad something fierce.

If I were in your position I would save from investing too much in the ask, and giving them all the super sentimental favors after they agree/day of the wedding. Maybe for the ask, a cute card with a plaid print on the front with a message inside asking them to ditch their flannel for one day and put a suit on to join you in walking you down the aisle. Make it funny and light, and then hit them in the feels with a closing/signature from you, as well as your dad in parenthesis.

I already know my mom will be walking me down the aisle, since my father passed away last year. But I plan to go for the feels during the week of the wedding, including gifting her the bouquet charm that holds my dad's ashes so he can walk with us, after the ceremony. Something for her to treasure in the years to come. Smiley heart

Sending you the best of luck with your asks. I hope the fellas say yes!
