How to ask my friends to be bridesmaids??

Lydia, on July 2, 2012 at 10:00 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11

So, I just got the ring yesterday!!! So excited. I have 7 friends I need to ask to be my bridemaids. Do you ladies (or gentlemen) have any good ideas for how to ask? I'm really into obscure things so don't hold any idea back! Thank you all!!

I have been on pinterest to find ideas for this too. I have decided on getting craft boxes and putting a fun bottle of alcohol(possibly wine with a fun name), bridesmaid sashes(for them to wear to my bridal shower for some pics) that will have their names on them, and ,maybe a couple more things or not..havent decided yet. On the front it'll say "be my bridesmaid?" and tied up with a funky tulle bow or something. Good Luck

I just got each of them alone and said, "You mean so much to me, and I can't imagine going on this journey without you, will you be my bridesmaid?" and then we cried and hugged and had a drink to celebrate. I sent them a card and flowers after.

My ladies all lived out of state, so I wrote them personal letters.

I wrote mine a sweet little note on a card and let them know how much they meant to me, I then handed them each a little box, and on the inside of the box was a ring pop and on the inside of the top lid it read "Will you be my bridesmaid?" They all put the ring pop on and said "I DO" they all had tears in their eyes.

I feel so uncreative, I already knew who I wanted as my BMs, so when I texted them (or answered their call when they saw the fb upload) to tell them I was engaged, I flat out told them "I love you so so much and I would like you to be a bridesmaid!!" and they all accepted lol

These are awesome ideas! thank you all. I have pretty much told all of them anyway, but I wanted to do something that they could all keep and remember Smiley smile

I made funny cards and mailed them. I used a picture from "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding" on the front and wrote "If I promise not to make you wear this dress...". On the inside it said "Will you be my bridesmaid?" Everyone got a kick out of them Smiley smile

I made personalized little storybooks about my relationship with each of them (and I am NOT crafty, but they were cute nonetheless). Each book included some of my favorite pictures with the person and comments on some of my favorite memories. I actually stole the idea from a friend who had asked me to be a BM that way. They loved it, and they can hold on to it as a keepsake!

I'm like Sarah R. For a crafty person, I was pretty boring. When I told my SIL we were engaged, she hugged me, and I said "and of course you know this means you're wearing the dress I pick out for you, right?" When I told my best friend, she said "Yay! I get to be a MOH!" (we had talked before about how I wanted her to be my MOH if Jason and I got married). He's asking his cousin to be my third BM (since I've met her all of once and I asked my brother to be his GM)

I just recently saw a wonderful idea where the bride actually had custom cookies made in the shape of a lady wearing a dress. The cookie was then outlined with the color she had chosen for her brides to wear, with the word Bridesmaid. She hand delivered each one and they were all placed inside a beautifully decorated bag. I wish I had a picture. Go figure, the one I time I don't bring my camera.
