How to- create a map insert for invitation?

Thecane428, on May 21, 2014 at 4:41 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 7

I am making my own invites. I am having my ceremony 5 minutes away from my reception and want to include a small map but have no idea how to do it. Any ideas or btides who have done it that are willing to share? Thanks

I would also really like to know how to do these maps. Some are so cute!

I actually stole mine from someone else's wedding website, and then edited it in photoshop (though, you could also use something like powerpoint if you wanted to put new landmarks in).

I would google your wedding location name with words like "reception" to see if you can find anyone else's wedding website. . .

I just went the super simple route. I went on Google Maps, pulled up the area, added pins for the reception and ceremony, zoomed in as much as I could, and then saved the image and printed it on cardstock (two per page).

I was JUST looking into this today.

I haven't really used it so I'm not sure how helpful it is. But here are a few links I came up with that I planned to look into more when I had some time this weekend.

I took a screenshot of the map from map quest. Inserted into powerpoint, and used their drawing tools to draw over the main streets/intersection, etc. Once I had everything, I deleted the screenshot and it gave a very basic map, looking similar to this:

I did the same as Ms. S and used black and blue to contrast the different highways/streets and inserted a few landmark points to help. It turned out nice. I then saved it as a JPEG so I could upload it to my directions card on vistaprint.
