How to "create an aisle"

ChampagneDream, on February 9, 2014 at 11:52 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

We are searching for a venue where we can have our ceremony and reception in the place. I'm trying to figure out ways to make an aisle. I don't want a runner, just maybe some flower arrangements etc.... Any other ideas? We don't want to spend a fortune on flowers for this purpose so maybe thinking silk.

Is your ceremony going to be inside or outside?

I think once you split the guest and have space in the middle, you have created an aisle. Aisle runners tend to look a little cheap sometimes. You can certainly add flowers but I don't think you need to.

Candles/lanterns could help define an aisle, also, and something you could easily do yourself to save costs.

I agree with GameCox. All I am going to do is hang a paper lantern with a pretty ribbon off the sides of the chairs... nothing big... but with the guest on the sides that should be enough for us...

This is my plan! DIY & probably under $30 total! Gives you the look without the crazy price tag!

@Champagne I went to a wedding where guests sat at their tables. Is this your only option? I don't think the one I saw went well but it probably would have been better if it had been executed well. What happened was the music/officiant didn't really announce that things had started. People were talking because it was round tables and all of a sudden the bride was walking in, nobody seemed to see the bridesmaids enter. There was no change of lighting and no audible announcement or music. They also didn't have any sort of aisle. I personally think an aisle runner is the best in this option even though I'm not a fan of it. Make sure announcements are clear and a program would have potentially helped. It just seemed like because people were at tables that they didn't stop talking. It was really a bizarre wedding!

We are getting these really cheap metal hooks from save-on-crafts and are "linking" them together with tulle from Hobby Lobby (when it is half off it is $5). Then we will probably get either lanterns or something to hang on the hooks. We will not have a runner either because the ceremony will be in the grass. We will also have access to a pergola/garden arch thing that I plan on decorating with a silk swag. We will also have real flower petals down the aisle because we cannot use anything fake that can become "trash" or blow away.

We are deciding on one of these to do. We want something simple and I personally don't like aisle runners they look cheap to me.

At my mom's wedding, they used some white tulle and bunched it up around the edges where the chairs begin (it looked like two lines, if that helps you get an idea) and they sprinkled light silk pedals over the material. It looked really pretty, and it was easy to clean up for the reception Smiley smile
