We are having a small 32-person wedding and getting a "drop off, set up, pick up" catering package. The only problem is that it only includes disposable plates and plasticware. I bought some plates and everything else from the thrift store today to use since it is MUCH cheaper than upgrading to a package that includes staffing but I am unsure what to do with the dirty dishes. My mom and mom in law to-be both encouraged me that it would be fine and that we could put the dirty dishes in plastic bins and bring them home but my mom just talked to my sister and is now talking about "having to stop dancing to scrape off plates." So now I'm having second thoughts and I'm not sure what to do! Everyone is close family so I don't think it would be too much to ask to have everyone put their plate in a designated spot when they are done (nothing a cute sign can't fix right?)
Has anyone done a similar DIY before? Also if you have any experience renting dishes from an event rental, will they pick up dishes from an event?
