How to Decorate a Gazebo?

Jenny, on March 10, 2013 at 11:09 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

We're having our ceremony in a lovely gazebo across the street from our reception location. It's in a county park, in front of a small lake. The gazebo is large, white and there's a grassy hillside with levels built in for standing while watching the ceremony on the right (pond is to the left).

I need some simple, easy decorating ideas. I was thinking about making blankets or pillows for people to sit on, but I'm not sure if most people would prefer standing. There will be no seating other than the grass and the rock wall to the right of the gazebo. We need to be able to get the decorations up and down quickly because there isn't much time after the ceremony until our rental period is up (probably about 1/2 an hour).

Please excuse the crazy-looking man in the picture- that's my dad.

Do you have a theme ??

You could make wedding pomander balls and hang them on the gazebo

I don't really have a theme. The reception is going to be a picnic/BBQ.

The pomander balls are a good idea, and also an easy DIY project. Thanks!

I saw a photo recently where a bride used some organza to drape down the posts of the gazebo. It turned out really pretty! You could do something like that - it should be pretty easy to take down.

I'm a big fan of flowers. From what I've seen, it takes about an hour or two to set up, and I've seen quite a few weddings where they've taken the flowers down and replaced them in the reception venue. Usually the taking-down is only about 20-30 minutes.

I love KristnB's option. I've also seen artificial garland just wrapped around the posts of the gazebo before too.
