How to do your makeup for a wedding guest

annakay511, on May 28, 2016 at 3:16 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 33

We've got back-to-back wedding weekends (last Saturday and tomorrow, Sunday) and as I picked up my new dress from the tailor (had straps shortened and bra cups sewn in), got a pedicure, and headed to my spray tan this morning I wondered - does anyone else prep for weddings as a guest like this?? haha. Now, I don't always get a spray tan, for example I didn't last weekend. But I typically buy a new dress, get a pedicure, I always do my nails (press-on tips), put on fake lashes, and will curl or get my hair done -- last weekend I just curled it, but tomorrow I am having a pro style done since it will be so hot out. I just love the opportunity to get all dolled up! Anybody else? Or am I totally crazy? haha

I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding on Monday & I'm not even going to those lengths lol. It's just not me. Though I will be pulling out all the stops for my own wedding.

Me I get my hair nails and if I'm doing open toe shoes I get my feet done too who wants to look raggedy in professional photos even if you are just a guest

I usually pre plan what I'm wearing (sometimes get something new but deciding days in advance is rare for me), always get my nails done or do them myself and put more effort into my hair than usual.

The last time I had multiple weddings in a year, I bought ONE new dress and pair of shoes, as none of the guests were duplicates. Do my own hair and make-up, too.

I might buy a new dress, especially if the wedding's local so I don't have to budget for plane tickets. I definitely have worried more about my outfit as a guest than I have as a bride.

Haha "look raggedy" I love it @Kiandra! I will admit, its def. a nice chance for a photo opp with DH and of course I want to look good since often weddings are like mini-reunions with people you haven't seen in awhile!

I have a wedding to go to today. I've done nails and will do makeup. I'm not planning anything special for hair, mainly because I'm not in my home city.

I'll usually buy a new dress just for an excuse to buy myself something new. It's not like I don't have plenty of dresses that are appropriate. I'll get my nails done (I wear acrylics, so just make sure they're filled and look nice) and get a pedicure. That's pretty much it.

I usually rent a dress from RTR and if I have time, I get a blow out. I don't get manicures but I always make sure my pedicure is good to go.

I usually do RTR as well, and definitely get my nails done! When I was a bridesmaid I also got a spray tan. It's so hard being a lady!

I get regular pedicures, and I own a zillion dresses, so no I don't usually primp much more than normal for weddings.

Though if I want a new dress, I'll definitely use weddings as a good excuse to go buy one! lol

I get dressed like I would to go to church. However, the last wedding I went to, I had a black dress. And black dresses reminds me of funerals. I also had a white one, which we know is a no-no. So yeah, I went out and bought a dress. Since then, though I've greatly added to my dress/church selection... so no, I probably wouldn't unless I had a reason too. I'm doing my own hair for my own wedding, so I wouldn't get it done for someone else's I have naturally curly hair and don't like people messing with it. Shoot, I only get a trim once a yr!! And I do my own make-up too. I've had ONE manicure my whole life, and that was only recently. But since I don't do anything but natural nails, I don't really see the point, either.

ETA: Oh, and I don't spray tan... ever... lol

I didn't even do that much for my own wedding! I did my own hair and makeup (very minimal because that's what I like), painted my own nails, and shaved and that was about it. I don't even think I bothered painting my toes since I wore closed toe shoes. As a guest for a wedding I would never pay to have any beauty treatment done. Totally personal choice and to each their own but IMO that's a waste of money. I would do my nails but I would do them myself (personally I'm never happy with how my nails turn out when I get them done professionally and end up doing them over, pedicures feel nice but as far as the look goes it's always better to do it myself). Then hair and makeup myself and I would always wear a dress I already had unless I needed a new one anyhow. To buy a new one when I already have wedding appropriate dresses is wasteful to me. I'm just not someone who chooses to buy a new outfit for each event unless the event requires something I don't already have.

@Kristen @JillR If I find a dress I like... I am totally guilty of thinking, "hmmm I have that wedding in 6 months I could wear this too..." as an excuse haha even though of course I have a closet full of them I could choose from!

I always try to get my nails done. At least a mani, generally both if I'm wearing shoes that'll show my toes. I generally don't buy a new dress unless I need one, because I've collected quite a collection already! I spend a decent amount of time on my own hair and makeup, but I don't get either done professionally.

I have to dress conservative for work, so I love opportunities when I can look so much more fun. I don't necessarily buy a new dress, but I do wear something with a bit of sexiness to it. I do all my nails and sometimes buy a new polish. I do my own hair far more curly and fluffy than for work.

No, I wear a nice dress I have. I mean maybe I'll get a new one but on sale sale sale!

I'll paint my own nails but not a manicure. I'll do my hair myself. Basically like in going to work.

I get my toes done - but I do that often for myself so I just plan it right before so they are fresh. I never spray tan. And I do my own hair and makeup - but I wear more makeup for a wedding.

For me it's a date night. Depending on who's wedding it is I'll spend more to get pretty. I have enough dresses but when I find nice ones on sale I'll pick them up (last find was White House Black Market for $20). I keep my toes pretty year round lol
