How to do your makeup for a wedding guest

We've got back-to-back wedding weekends (last Saturday and tomorrow, Sunday) and as I picked up my new dress from the tailor (had straps shortened and bra cups sewn in), got a pedicure, and headed to my spray tan this morning I wondered - does anyone else prep for weddings as a guest like this??...

Now, I don't always get a spray tan, for example I didn't last weekend. But I typically buy a new dress, get a pedicure, I always do my nails (press-on tips), put on fake lashes, and will curl or get my hair done -- last weekend I just curled it, but tomorrow I am having a pro style done since it will be so hot out. I just love the opportunity to get all dolled up! Anybody else? Or am I totally crazy? haha

Gosh I don't do any of this! I'll do my makeup and nails myself, and throw my hair up in an updo. If I'm not a bridesmaid, I normally don't buy a new dress. I did buy a dress for the wedding I'm going to in August, but FH is a groomsman, and I was looking for an excuse to buy this particular dress.

I wouldn't buy a new dress if I had one that was appropriate for the venue/weather/time. But I would do my nails (and toes if wearing sandals) and actually wear makeup, which I don't usually wear. It's fun to have an excuse to get "gussied up" as my mom would say!

If I need a dress I'll buy one. But I never really need one. I have a lot, and I'm trying really hard to not spend anything unnecessarily because of the wedding! But even before being engaged, I'd do my hair.

I usually buy a new dress and do my hair. I used to tan in tanning beds, but since skin cancer and wrinkles aren't my thing, so I also get sprayed sometimes too. I can't stand when my legs look pale in my dress. I like to actually take the time to do my makeup for other's weddings. I think it's a good chance to get all dolled up and look nice.

We never really go to weddings.. Last one was a court house ceremony with a living room reception lol but for special events like graduations or baptisms I'll buy a new dress, get my nails done, and get a fresh eyebrow threading and put extra effort in my makeup. I love getting dolled up.

I always get paranoid about what I'm wearing, hair, makeup and nails. Then when I get there I realize no one gives a crap what I look like. I've learned to relax and not stress SO much about prep but still take the time to look decent and not like a hobo. Smiley smile

I know about of people who will do all of that. Depending on the wedding ( how close they are) I will get a dress, hair done, mostly to my own makeup but will get it done for the next wedding (SILs wedding), I will get my nails done for that one too. Normally I do them myself.

I get a pedicure and manicure. Depending on how tight money is, depends on a new dress. Normally I do buy a new dress though. I will blow out my hair, unless it's going to be very humid, then I'll get it done.

Nope. Not at all. I can't remember the last time (if ever) that I have bought a dress specifically to be a guest at a wedding. Wear my hair and make-up as usual. Don't even think about getting ready for the wedding until I'm getting ready to actually go. This seems like.... too much!

Who doesn't love an excuse to dress up. Weddings are like the adult proms of excuses to get pretty manicures and amp up your look.

That being said, I wish I lived closer to family to attend some weddings. It's been literally 9 years.

I usually would buy a dress or do RTR, have a blowout, and do a mani/pedi. I have done spray tans before because I am not a fan of looking porcelain in the summer.

On a daily basis I don't do makeup, hair or nails. For weddings I will do my own hair, nails and makeup and possibly buy something but it has to be cheap.

I went to a wedding yesterday, I had the honor of walking the bride down the aisle.

I wanted to buy a new dress, but the dress I had been eyeing didn't come in my size. The wedding was a 5 hour drive from where I live and knew I wouldn't be able to primp like I normally like. I didn't have time to get a mani/pedi. I worked a nightshift and headed out of town when I got off in the morning, but was able to get some waxing (brows and underarm).

I brought 4 dresses and 2 pairs of shoes with me, cuz I was so indecisive.

But, yeah, I like to primp and pamper myself before an event. However, I normally do my own hair and makeup as I'm pretty good at it, most people usually ask if I professionally get it done.
