How to dye water?

Now a Mrs, on March 3, 2011 at 1:14 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

Do any of you know how to dye water? I want to dye the water in my centerpieces but was warned not to use regular dye because it will also dye my flowers then. If you don't use regular dye, what would you use?

Thanks!

Food coloring. It takes a very long time to dye flowers, more than 24 hours, so that's not really an issue.

You would use normal dye. It wont effect the flowers for a day or 2, so they should be kept in clean water till put on the tables.

My daughter did a science project on dying flowers, we used white carnations for the flowers and food coloring, they changed within an hour, we did 5 different colors. U may want to get a few flowers from ur florist and try different amounts and kinds of dye, don't let ur wedding reception be ur guinea pig.

The best thing to do to color water in vases with flowers is to use cake decorating gel ( comes in a small tube in cake decor isle ) it produces a clearer, cleaner color and it won't color your flowers.

I actually saw at wal mart the other day they have these small beads they are like BB size, and they gome in a litlle baggie, and they are suppost to dye water, they had like 5 colors to pick from, they were in the same aisle as like the fake flower, glass vases, floral wire, and the vase fillers....they even had LED lights that were waterprook to make the water look colored....they were like 2 led's for $5. And the little colored beads we like $2 ish.

You could buy those water lights that glow. They make the water glow with their color.
