How to end the wedding with no send off?

Future Mrs. Lowder, on October 12, 2020 at 2:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hey y’all...
I’ve been thinking about a “send off” recently and I don’t love the idea. I’d rather stay than just awkwardly leave.. if that makes sense. How do we end the night without being rude about it?

Lots of couples skip the send off and stay till the end. Nothing rude about it. Dance and mingle until they kick you out.

Have your DJ announce last call (for the bar) and last dance. People will realize the reception is over once that song is done. You can enjoy the last dance and say bye to everyone has they leave.

More people don't do any big send off, than do. If people are making no move to start clearing the room as the end of you time approaches, it helps to say something about your time being up, and start saying goodbye to people, but other than that if you let it be known earlier when you want things to wind up, a half hour before the actual end, people will all want to say good night to you, and wish you well. If you stay someplace not too far from the door, a natural flow starts past you, and out the door. Just as people say good bye to their host at a regular party, they will at your reception.

We did a last dance so our DJ just announced that the song would be the last song of the even. It was a slow song that my husband and I did then about 1/3 of the way through we invited the remaining guests to join us on the dance floor. After it ended, I went and changed into my short dress then we went to our after party at the bar.

This is exactly what we did. Most of our guests joined us at a local bar after the wedding to continue the party. No need for a send off.

For our minimony we just stayed and drank until our time was up for the venue lol. For our big wedding we will go to a bar in the hotel afterwards, we won't have a send off either

We're not doing a send off either! We'll announce the last dance, and last call for the bar, and that'll be the end.

We danced until the end. Our DJ picked out an "end of the night" song for us (we hadn't remembered), based on what she knew of us (it was perfect, it was a Broadway song), and we all got in a circle and sung our hearts out.

And then some people helped us clean up and my MOH and her husband kindly drove us home (instead of us getting a cab/Lyft), and we barely managed to get out of our finery before we faceplanted.
