how to gain back weight for the wedding in 37 Days?!

Thuy, on May 9, 2019 at 2:06 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 20
Y’all, this does not fall into the “skinny people problems.” Ever since February, my parents’ health have fluctuated, one with cancer, and next the other. After much grieving (resulting in lost appetite), I just received my dress in the mail from Etsy and it’s loose. Like if I can’t fit this, it’ll be hanging by the hips and I’ll be tripping all over it.

Share some ideas, food items, fitness videos I can use gain inspiration and weight. I’ll try to do an emergency alteration as it gets closer. MY SKIN IS HIGHLY SENSITIVE TO BREAKING OUT WITH ACNE so binge eating whatever’s could drag my skin and energy down.

I would just take it to get altered. My dress was still being made smaller a few days before my wedding because I couldn’t stop losing weight from stress.

First, I'm so sorry about what you have been going through. My heart goes out to you. As for the dress, I would definitely get an alterations appointment as you said to help make it fit you better. For your diet, I would just focus on eating a really balanced diet of everything your body needs to be properly nourished. That will keep your skin clear and your energy up, and hopefully replenish what your body needs.

What the PP said as far as eating a balanced meal. I can relate because I lost weight a few months ago when my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer and I lost my appetite as well. Once I got my appetite back I gained a few pounds back. I’m sorry for all your going through, things do/will get better.

Could you get it altered? For awhile I was stressed/not eating healthy, and protein shakes helped me gain weight. I'd probably just go for alterations though.

In order to gain weight you must eat more than you burn. Search online for an RMR calculator, this will let you know how much your body burns each day just by being alive. You want to consume a few hundred more calories than your RMR (even more if you exercise). 3500 calories equals a pound. So for every 3500 more calories you consume you will gain one pound. Be sure to consume high calorie foods and plenty of carbs if you aren't the type of person that is capable of eating a lot. Some foods that will help: Pastas, rice, potatoes, weight gainer shakes and bars, nuts, peanut butter, avocado, whole milk, full fat cheese but drink A LOT of water to help your skin. Keep in mind that weight lifting will cause you to burn even more calories, and it takes months of hard training to put on pounds of muscle so that might not be your best bet if you truly want to gain weight for your dress to fit.

I’m sorry you & your parents are going through such a stressful time 🙁 I hope they feel better soon!

I would just alter the dress close to your wedding date. And for the rest, just focus on eating healthy, whole foods & regular 3 meals a day. With time, you will gain whatever you are supposed to gain back, in a healthy & steady way. Please don’t binge eat, it’s never a good idea for your body & for your health.

I'm sorry that you're going through this. It seems like altering the dress would be the best option.

Hi! I am also dealing with this issue. Stress makes me not want to eat. I would try protein shakes. I do a scoop of vanilla protein, a handful of kale, a banana, strawberries, and flax seed in my smoothies in the mornings. It definitely helps. Healthy snacking throughout the day. Nuts are a good option. Altering is not an option for me because I can't find a decent seamstress in my area. You could also consider wearing thick undergarments that may help fill in the dress more.

First of all, I am so sorry that you are dealing with so much with both of your parents.

Second, definitely consult with a seamstress about what you can do to make the dress fit you, but in the meantime, upping your protein intake by drinking protein shakes in between meals may help you gain a little of bit of weight, but I think really your best option is to get the dress made to fit you.

    Sending you virtual hugs.

If you can't get the dress altered to fit you, I'd add in some healthy fats and proteins to your diet. Eggs, avocados, nuts, butter, etc. Protein shakes can be a great idea like someone suggested above. I'd go with chocolate protein powder, whole milk, bananas, and peanut butter! You can easily get another 600 calories a day just by adding those to your diet.

With your wedding so close, I'd just go ahead and get the dress altered rather than doing something to alter your body. As long as you are eating healthy balanced meals, I wouldn't worry too much about the weight. I'd focus on making the dress fit your body as is, since you have only a month to make the changes. So sorry to hear about your family.

You're best bet is to alter your dress. Find a wedding dress alterations place. They can make that alteration in that amount of time, but you gotta get in there asap

Are we talking a massive weight loss health issues? Like not just about the dress but your long term health. I would add a dietary supplement called "ensure" in addition to 3 good healthy meals every 2 hours. You could also have a kind bar or carrots and ranch for a snack for variety.

    Meal plan example:
8 am breakfast of fruit, pancakes and eggs
10 am ensure / healthy snack / kind bar
12 pm sandwich, veggies, normal lunch stuff
2 pm ensure / healthy snack / kind bar
4 pm ensure / healthy snack / kind bar
6 pm grilled chicken, veggies, normal dinner stuff
8 pm ensure / healthy snack / kind bar

For the dress issue I recommend alterations and try to stay the same weight as much as possible. The trick to healthy weight gain is to eat often and take it slow. I also recommend light exercise while trying to gain the weight. It seems counter intuitive but it will help. Exercise is great for stress reduction.

Be sure to see your doctor about this though if you are concerned about your health. It's important to take care of yourself. It sounds like you are going through a lot of stress.

I am so sorry for what you are going through! I hope everything turns out okay.

Regarding your dress, I think you should get it altered. Eating too much in a short amount of time is not good for your health.

Your dress is beautiful, but I think your best bet would be looking into getting it altered. Shouldn’t be too expensive or invasive from what I can tell just looking at your pic. Hope everything gets better girl 💕
