How to get the right stylist remotely

K, on May 6, 2021 at 9:38 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4
Hi all, I’m really new at this process and want a few opinions.

My wedding is in Illinois and I live in Seattle. My hair is very fine and very soft, and I have literally never been happy with it walking out of a salon. The couple of times I’ve had my hair done it ended up looking really awful and just kind of... baby-ish. I know there’s a limit on what is physically possible with my hair but I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten better volume out of it myself than any stylist ever has. That said, I don’t like the way my hair looks when I do it, either.
All this is to say that I’m extremely worried about finding a stylist that will make me feel beautiful on my wedding day. I know the look I want, I think it’s possible with my hair based on my own experience (I chose something based on what I thought they could do), but I’m worried that it will end up looking like all the other times I’ve had my hair done and they just won’t get what I want.
I have a hair-trial-only scheduled for next weekend with a stylist here in Seattle, just to make sure that SOMEONE can pull off this look with my hair and if not, make alternate recommendations. Then I can have pictures of a style with my own hair to show to the wedding stylist.
I also have a trial scheduled with a wedding stylist in Illinois in July. My question is, should I schedule a trial with yet another stylist for the same weekend? Is that typical? What happens if I don’t like the first stylist’s work? Her salon is the recommended vendor on my venue’s list, but I haven’t seen any of this stylist’s work.
Can anyone offer some insight or advice to calm my nerves? My hair is the one thing I am really worried about not going right. Thanks!

I don’t think it would hurt to set up another appointment as long as you are ok with any cancellation fees if you love the first one! I’m a believer of the more options the better and your hair will impact how you feel on your big day so I say do what you need to do to feel amazing!

I agree with Krista - I don't think it hurts to set up another trial that weekend while you're there!! That way you've done a whole bunch of trials and can really have your bases covered! Smiley heart

Hi! I have super fine hair as well. I actually purchased some really nice real human hair clip in extensions from Amazon. I then searched for stylists that would be able to add these to my hairstyle the day of to help liven & thicken my curls! It's totally a normal thing, I actually found a ton of stylist that get this request often. Smiley heart
