How to go about tent place cards??

Elizabethschuzer, on November 27, 2017 at 12:00 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8

Tent place cards! We are doing a sit down dinner (place cards will have a colored corner to show their meal choice so waiters know what entree goes with each person) and will soon be working on the seating plan (my rsvp deadline just passed but of course I have a bunch outstanding I have to follow up with!) I'm wondering how to go about the place cards. We will have someone helping everyone find their place cards and directing them to display them at their seat. Each will have their name, table number, and the colored corner. Tent place cards would be best so they're easy to see by the staff, but how to go about the cards?? Each one is different, and I've seen printable (that have mixed reviews on lining up from the template) and ones like vista print? But then I have to write each one?? I'm so at a loss on how to proceed and anyone who has place card experience on where/how I should get them, it would be greatly appreciated!!

We actually bought a label maker with clear labels and the one we bought from Staples had a bunch of different fonts and borders....but all in all the coat about $50 and it looked gorgeous...we didn't want to fuss with the printable ones just in case and it came out perfectly...and now I have a label make for our home lol

Adalyn that sounds like an awesome idea! I will look into that today!! And Mrs. Fall Bride, I'm aware of how the cards are set up as I specified that someone would be helping them find their cards so I'd hope I'd have an idea on where to put them! Lol! As far as escort cards vs place cards, yes they are showing them what table to sit at, but the main importance of the cards is a way for the staff to determine meal choice. Otherwise I would have just made a seating board with table numbers and names under that, so I do believe they would be considered both as they are dual purpose in this case..

I'm hand writing mine, after all the rsvp's are in and table #s are assigned. You can also get them at Michaels, Hobby Lobby etc. They are typically arranged in alphabetical order on a table at the entrance of the reception.

I hand wrote mine. I got a sparkly silver sharpie and went to town.

My venue is making me do this too. I am going to have them at their assigned seat and have a board at the entrance that tells them what table they are at. That way they are not walking around searching

We used Minted. They print the names for you and they turned out beautiful

Your wording in the OP is very hard to follow, but I'm thinking a label maker with clear labels or even clear address labels that you print yourself would work to stick on to the escort cards.

I just hope the colored triangles are somewhat big. As a caterer, the worst part about plated meals is playing "name that meal" when the couple chooses a color scheme. God bless those who use animal stickers.

We bought tented escort cards on Amazon that we could run through our printer at home - made it easier when we had several last minute changes of tables
