How to grow closer during engagement?

Leslie, on June 23, 2019 at 1:30 AM Posted in Married Life 0 9
My fiancé and I are newly engaged, and in for the long haul (engagement will last 3+ years). What are some romantic ideas for us to be closer or more in love? I'm thinking cooking together, dancing, having a nightly talk, going on long drives, etc. Things to relax and strengthen us as a couple.

We are having a stay-cation this week and any ideas for that would be great!

My fiancé and I volunteer togather. Once a month we go walk dogs at a shelter. We walk the separate and have to keep
dogs 10 feet apart but helping others and strengthen a common Interest is such a big help. No the only problem is I have fallen in love with a long haired dog that he would be
    allergic to. Meet sugar bear.

Have you considered premarital counseling? My fh and I are three sessions in so far and have grown so much closer through the teachings.

I hear that experiencing new things together brings you closer. Cooking class could be a good start if neither of you has previously done it. FH and I go for a nightly walk now and when things calm down a bit, we may try indoor rock climbing.

I don’t know how childish you both like to be, but build a blanket fort, pop some popcorn and watch a movie! Or pretend the fort is a restaurant and cook for each other. Simple things to keep you laughing and young. ☺️

We picked a show to watch exclusively together, do couples counseling somewhat regularly, and try to go one new place each month whether it be a restaurant or hiking trail

Daughter and SIL bought a book called (something like) "1001 questions to ask before you get married." A couple times a week, they would talk about a question or two. Daughter thought is was so beneficial, her gift when friends get engaged is a copy of the book.

Congratulations. We are also having a long engagement of 2 yrs. This time can be stressing but also a building situation. Lots of compromise and trust. Don't let the little things stress you both out. Enjoy this time together and build a sturdy relationship.
Mini dates! Go for drives, go for walks or hikes in the park. Or pack a basket lunch and sit by a stream or lakeside. Have a movie night.
A DIY....make slips if paper with date ideas and as you feel, pull a slip out and that's what you do together. Have fun!

We go away every 6 months. We go camping, hiking, kayaking whatever we want. Plus we have date night once a month. Whatever you decide just make sure it’s a time about being a couple.

I actually adopted a dog my H is allergic too. He takes allergy pills when it's bad because he also instantly fell in love with her. Smiley smile
