How to handle expected rain on Wedding day?

Emily, on June 13, 2021 at 5:56 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
My wedding is in 7 days (ahhhhh!!) Checking the forecast and it’s expected to rain 😭. Our ceremony is taking place outdoors with the reception being inside. My FH and I are trying to plan for back ups, one being we could just get married inside where the reception will be. Basically, all we would have to do is move the arch inside and the guests will just seat at the round tables. Honestly, I really hate the idea of this. I don’t know why but I have seen weddings where the ceremony takes place in the reception hall and guests are seated at round tables instead of facing forward and it just seems to tacky to me. Do I just need to get over it and plan it this way if it does actually rain or does anyone have any tips or ideas for additional options?
We are also worried about the pictures.

Unfortunately the weather cannot be controlled. Your backup plan sounds great, honestly. You and your guests will be safe, dry and comfortable.
With regards to pictures, your professional photographer should be comfortable having to adjust for weather conditions. I would discuss his/her thoughts.
But truly, it is what it is ... weather cannot be controlled and you have a plan for it. You are good to go!

We are having a beach wedding and this is always my fear, but there’s nothing you can do but embrace it ! Some of the coolest photos come from a not perfect day! ❤️

Is there a way to put the seats that would be outdoors (if you have any) inside instead? Like set them up in the rows inside. Our venue's backup plan for rain is to have the ceremony in the ballroom, and they just shuffle the tables to one half of the room and block it off for the ceremony and set up the chairs ceremony style, then while everyone is at cocktail hour in the different location, they re-set up the room with the tables how they're supposed to be. Not sure if your venue could do this, but it might not hurt to ask!

This actually sounds like a great idea! Our cocktail hour is in the same location but I think it won’t be too difficult to have the tables moved back while the guests are on the other side of the room enjoying apps and drinks. Thank you!

Our venues back up plan is to also have it in the ballroom where the reception will be. They have curtains on the left and right side, so they would move all the tables behind the curtains, set up the ceremony in the center and then reconfigure while we're doing cocktail hour in a different space.
