How to include my dogs without them being in my wedding

Jessica, on February 26, 2019 at 6:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 35

Since our engagement its been a given that my dogs would be involved, because its known what a big part of my life they are. But it just dawned on me that one of my dogs is probably not suited to this since she is nervous/anxious around strangers. This is heartbreaking and I am really upset they will likely not be there. What are some other ways I can incorporate them into my big day without them being involved? (FH said no to dogs on the cake, or a separate cake with just the dogs "We do too")

I reeeeaalllly wanted to have our cat in the wedding, my fiance said no. I was only half joking, lol. But to include her I made a signature drink just for her.

Maybe do one signature drink for each dog then have it displayed at the bar/

    Hi
i also wanted to include my dog in our wedding. I was against engagement photos since we are trying to do a smaller wedding I felt they weren’t needed. But realized that we could do the engagement shoot and include our dog in our photos! So it is in a calm setting and then you can use the photos for something for the wedding. Save the dates or maybe just a nice photo on the welcome sign or table . Also day of the wedding we have the photographer coming to the house prior to take photos so she can be part of the day

I think a signature cocktail is a perfect idea. Maybe come up with a catchy name? Also, did you have them at your engagement shoot? Display that photo at your reception. Lastly, you can share your concerns with your vet. That person may have some ideas whether your pets could attend. If yes, designate one or two people who love animals to be with them during your special day.

The only thing that came to mind without them physically being there would to have their pictures as part of your bouquet...

I saw these on Etsy and I loved them. People use them as guest books but I was thinking of using it as a welcome sign. Each one is designed for the couple and you can include a pet! If we get one we would definitely put our cat Momo on my SO’s shoulder lol.

I also saw someone on here who incorporated an animated picture of them and their dog for their guestbook. They got it made on Etsy. Superrrr cute & can be hung up after the wedding for house decor. Wish I could find a picture! I’ll try & post if I find it!

I can relate I have 2 dogs one loves people the other we just got 3 months ago and gets super nervous around other people we have been working with her but still no luck. I will try the thunder shirts to see if it makes a difference we also want to include them in the engagement photos but I can’t trust one of my dogs to come back on command or make her stay a certain position long enough to take a picture.

I know someone who just incorporated their dogs into the design of the wedding. Like they dogs shadows are in the save the date. They use a picture of them to identify tables. They were on the program. They had a dessert named after them.

We have 2 cats that we couldn’t possibly have included in the wedding. I got hubby socks from Divvvyup with their faces on them! Hubby loved them!

You could do custom hanky/cufflinks, cake toppers, have photos of them, the signature drink idea is cute!

We are doing something like this! instead of photos of us as a couple in our table number frames it will be pictures of my cat. she also has a shout out on our programs. they were little tiny things that we thought every one would think were funny and not too over the top.

I've heard of people getting cardboard cut outs of their dogs to have at the wedding, I'm considering something like that myself!

You could make your signs for things like "favors", "cards and gifts" include photos of your pups. You could also name a signature drink after your dog. If you have a photo booth you could blow up a photo of your dog, you and husband for guests to use as silly photo props.
