Since our engagement its been a given that my dogs would be involved, because its known what a big part of my life they are. But it just dawned on me that one of my dogs is probably not suited to this since she is nervous/anxious around strangers. This is heartbreaking and I am really upset they will likely not be there. What are some other ways I can incorporate them into my big day without them being involved? (FH said no to dogs on the cake, or a separate cake with just the dogs "We do too")

We have two cats that obviously cannot attend our wedding and I'm so sad that they cannot. I bought bouquet charms so they'll be with me when I walk down the aisle. Our open bar package also allows for one signature drink and I'd love to somehow dedicate that to them.

You can have your dogs for engagement pictures! You can include pictures of them at your wedding that are sentimental. Maybe pictures of you, FH, and the dogs. I have seen people do table numbering methods with pictures of their dogs.

If you are doing a program booklet you can include their names in print and say “celebrating from home.”

I have been wanting to include my cats and dogs in our festivities somehow as well and I'm debating on getting ridiculous cardboard cutouts.. Smiley laugh

We are doing a life-size cardboard cutout of our dog! So he'll be able to be in pictures at the wedding and "at the alter" with us. We don't have it yet, but when we do I'm sure I'll post pictures!

My friends included their dog in engagement pictures, put a picture of him on their guest book and did special favors (bags of dog treats) from him to other dogs. It was super cute and simple!

Depending on how far away the dogs will be from the venue, my cousin got married in September, and had the dog sitter bring them over to the venue for pictures after the ceremony but before the reception, so they weren’t really a part of the wedding but they got to take pictures in their wedding attire with their fur babies - the pictures came out great!! They have one with the older dog curled up in the bottom of her dress - he did it on his own and it’s so cute.

They can be in the engagement photos, the getting ready pictures, you can have pictures of them for your photo booth or decor or on the table numbers, you can do dog treats as favors, you can name signature drinks after them!

Thanks for all of these suggestions! I love them all. I am going to go with the engagement pictures, bouquet charms and have them there while I am getting ready, then have the sitter come pick them up. Thanks so much you guys, I feel relieved to still feel like they'll be there with me.

I’m doing 4 signature cocktails - one for each of my dogs (example: the Elmer). My sister does graphic design and she’s making the sign for me. Other ideas I had were making the wedding favor cookies that looked like them with some cute phrase (paw-sitively glad you came or whatever). I’ve also seen a doggie treat bar where people make doggie bags for their dogs.

Well, this is difficult. Make the right decision you need.
