How to incorporate pop culture into your wedding?

Alanna, on April 8, 2019 at 12:59 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has included pop culture references into their wedding and how did they include it? I'm talking movies, books, video games, anime, tv or anything else you can think of!

I'm trying make it seem like there's "easter eggs" like in a movie but I'm not sure how I want to go about it.

Could be in table numbers. Maybe you could “hide” figurines from a favorite show or game in your centerpieces. Your cake topper could also be a reference to one of your fandoms.

I was thinking about making the table numbers quotes from our favorite movies. The figurines are a great idea!

The wedding part is walking down to a string quartet version of the Star Wars theme & then the recessional is the same thing but it’s We Go Together from Grease. We’re also sprinkling in some Elvis through out the wedding because Elvis started our relationship lol we’re having a milk & cookie bar & the bags to take them to go have Elvis stamped on them & a chalk board sign that says thank you, thank you very much above it.

I’m doing references in my ring box, shoes, cake topper, champagne flutes, and rehearsal dinner earrings.

Our wedding cake topper says “I love you & I like you” from Parks and Rec. We’re also possibly playing the song Barry sings to Iris in the Flash during the ceremony.

We are doing subtle Star Wars and LEGO touches. My bouquet will be in a lightsaber handle that I’ve spray painted rose gold. Our guestbook is a LEGO Star Wars photography book that we’ll have people sign with metallic Sharpies and will go on our coffee table after the wedding. Cake topper is calligraphy of “May the Force Be With Us.” Lightsabers for our grand exit. Groom’s cake will have starry galaxy appearance to it. Groomsmen will have Star Wars socks and sage green and rose gold LEGO cufflinks we are making ourselves. I have a rose gold bracelet that says, “Do or do not. There is no try.” I bought my girls Princess Leia slippers for getting ready. I think that’s it..... maybe it’s not subtle after all. 😂

That's super cute! Our tables are going to be movie quotes and I'm debating about making the table themselves themed to go along with the movie!

That's a really sweet idea. I was thinking about using Funko pop figures as our topper.

We're incorporating video game music into the ceremony and Weird Al's song "White and Nerdy" during the reception. Not specific to anything other than a shared love of dinosaurs, we're going to spray paint little dinosaurs gold and use them as decor, with the flowers and candles. I'm also contemplating surprising FH with a wedding Lego set on our table.

We're doing a Dr who cake, Godzilla cupcakes, and legend of Zelda cookies. My garter is TARDIS themed. And there might be nerdy songs.

When you exit the chapel, you could exit under a lightsaber sword arc
