How to incorporate video games into your wedding?

Shaylee , on February 25, 2018 at 1:15 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hello!

So my Fiance and I are getting married in Oct. of 2018 (which may seem like a sort amount of time but where we are from most couples are married within 3-5months of getting engaged). But I am really struggling with how to incorporate more of my future husbands personality. So our major overarching theme for the wedding is a fantasy/ethereal wedding. Our venue is this awesome in door green house that feel like you are in some far off place in some other time. I was thinking of having some video games up for people to play during our cocktail hour (which isn't really a cocktail hour since the venue doesn't allow alcohol). But I have no idea how to make that look put together/ elegant. My biggest fear for this wedding is it is going to look cheap, thrown together etc. like all the wedding here in my area. I really want to have a well put together wedding. But I feel rather overwhelmed with this process. Oh! also my budget is $9000. We are trying to cut down on some of the costs if possible.

Thanks!

I saw some ideas on Pinterest for this, like using a projector screen so everyone can see the gaming so it isn't just a couple of people playing off to the side. Also I saw a picture of the food and drinobstations with names like heath pack etc. I hope this helps a little for you.

We incorporated gaming controllers into our decor. We found PS4, XBOX, and some other gaming related Christmas ornaments at Hobby Lobby (bought them in September for our Oct. 1 wedding). They were made of glass and had a bit of glitter so they didn't look super cheap.

Are there any games in particular? Both FH and I spend most of our time with video games, so half the decor in our house is video game-related to specific games. ThinkGeek.com and Etsy have been our go-tos!

Umm not particularly. He doesn’t have a favorite and mine would be to hard to incorporate (they are bioshock infinite and beyond two souls).

I don’t know about actually having video games to play but you can incorporate that into your decor. Like a game controller cake topper. You can look for game inspired cake cutters, incorporate game elements into your centerpieces. I agree with pp check out Etsy. Etsy has been my go to website for any decor we’ve bought online.

Our DJ is providing a projector for our switch (since it allows the greatest number for multiplayer) and my FH’s band is palladium and emerald with the reinforce symbol from zelda

Love this idea! Usually there are designated areas where photo booths, extra dessert tables, ect are set up. I would see if you can set up a gaming station in that area. It shouldn’t look tacky, you might be able to make a sign or maybe have an extra table with your linens and colors Infront of a projector or flat screen.

That would be so amazing. I’m tossing that into the joint bachelor/bachelorette party. You’re a genius.
