We recently cancelled our wedding of 100 and opted for an elopement-style, ceremony-only type of thing with just our immediate families. Originally, my twin 6-year-old nieces were supposed to be the flower girls, but since our plans have changed, we're no longer having an aisle or the walk to the alter. We're just having a quick, standing ceremony in the park. Having said that, my nieces are so special to me and they were excited to be flower girls. Can anyone think of any other way to have them involved or make them feel special that day? I came up with a few ideas, but ultimately decided against them:
1. I have two bouquets and hold them as one, then hand them each one once the officiant starts the ceremony. Ultimately, I think having two bouquets would look obvious and weird.
2. They do the ceremony reading or sing a song. I decided against that because they can't read yet and have horrible memories, so wouldn't be able to recite anything.
3. They throw flower petals at us when we're pronounced husband and wife. The more I thought about it, it would probably end up anticlimactic and a little awkward.
Does anyone else have some ideas???
